The Evil Dead (DVD 2002)

This film is a must see for any horror fan as it has stood the test of time and is still loved and followed by many fans. Yes you have to appreciate that there is no special effects that film lovers have now become accustom to but this film stills keeps you on edge by the manner in which it was made. This was a great start to Sam Sam Raimi's career. Evil Dead starts off as an innocent trip to a cabin in the woods and ends up as Ash's worst nightmare!

Cheaper than a sale at poundland, and with more splatter than a cheap porn film, Evil dead cemented itself as the staple of the splatter horror genre all the way back in 1981, with its slapstick and bad taste - well worth it.

When I first saw this film. I was blown away by the sheer terror achieved by the cinematic skills of Raimi. There are loads of heart stopping moments and plenty of guts and gore. There are two great bonuses on the special edition issue.
Firstly, the directors commentary with Raimi and Campbell( he epitomizes cool )is awesome. Raimi in particular comes out with awesome gems about the tricks he used to make the film. Secondly, the special edition includes the famous scene where the girl gets raped by the trees. This however is nothing compared to the rest of the film. Without any doubt, one of the greatest gore films ever made. But please buy the special edition for maximum enjoyment.

This is part two in the evil dead trilogy a great black comedy starring bruce cambell the evil dead have risen again and all ash (bruce cambell) has is a severed stump for a hand which fits his converted chainsaw and a double guage shotgun looks like another sleepless night in the dark wooden cabin! a great comedy horror great if your into slapstick comedy with a mix of gory horror!

watched this when i was a teenager, thought it was really scary then, so i bought it for my son and telling him it was one of the scariest films i had seen.,,,but now its not as scary, 20 years on, its actually quite funny to watch it now...lol

What can I say ! If you are a horror fan and you don't like this then you should JOIN US. I saw this at the cinema when I was sixteen, when it was first released and it scared the hell out of me. I'd never seen anything like it, and nor had anyone else. Yes the effects are dated and some of the acting is a shade wooden, but the demons rock, the camera work is like Hitchcock on acid, and Bruce Campbell is always cool. There are numerous squirm inducing dismemberment incidents involving trees, pencils, spades, axes, creepy point-of-view camera shots, deep demonic voices, and an isolated hut in a forest,combining to create an overall feeling of macarbre dread. It is a tour de force of horror, and Sam Raimi was only ninteen when he made it. The subsequent EvilDead films are both comic tongue-in-cheek quality fun horrors, but neither compares to the original for sheer gut churning horror.

A classic horror/gore fest that spawned a decent sequel and a poor second sequel.The film has a home made feel to it that really works well,in a not disimilar way to The Blair Witch Project. All in all great stuff.

this one of the best gore fest films ever campbell is brilliant it was also a fingers up to the big budget industry and this film not only out sold them films but will always stand out as one of the best cult movies of all time.

its a classic zombie gore fest!! had it on vhs video for years but could not watch it due to poor video quality , enjoy it now on dvd , my kids 18 and 16 yr olds have never seen it! they loved it!

Takes you back to the early eighties when they did proper horror movies. Much better than the comical sequal.

The Evil Dead is a great movie. One of, if not the best horror movies ever. Ok it's seen as a little cheesy now, and the special FX aren't great, but it still has the ability to scare and is still utterly disgusting (if funny) in places. Have to admire what the cast and crew went through to make this film. Low budget, not a huge amount of experience, and by the end of the shoot had to use stand ins as a lot of the cast had moved on to other projects. Also paved the way for 2 great sequals (which you have to see if you see this one) The 2nd is more slapstick horror/comedy while the 3rd is more outright comedy (but again has the ability to at least shock in a few places)
A must for any horror fan, and for any general film fan.

The product was in excellent condition..brand new and excellent quality with the directors cut. A Bargain at the price!!

Classic horror film from my youth. Its still as good as i remember.It had people laughing then and i was laughing when i watched it.

this film was made by sam rami who later bought you the blockbusters spiderman 1 2 and 3 with toby maguire,and also bruce campbell who is the main character in this flick,he palys a student called ash,the film was banned at first in england but when i did see it i thought it was ok not many effects but again this was sams first film,it makes you jump abit and watching it at night is better, two more films were made after this but they were more comedy than horror,but its still nice to have it in my collection as this still goes don as a classic.

the reason i bought the evil dead is i remembered watching it when i was at high school and it scared me shitless lol, but now ive watched it as an adult it still did the same effect, either that or im a big wuss lol.. i would recommend any one to watch it just once to see what a classic horror was all about.

I love the Evil dead films .. Sam Rami (Director) attempted to make a horror film which turned out more tongue & cheek comedy which really appealed to me .. esp the lead character Ash played by Bruce Campbell who was absolutely hilarious in these films.
Not the best quality film in the world but well worth a watch.

This dvd is superb. The story is great. The cast led by Bruce Campbell are brilliant.Bruce himself is hilarious.Sam Raimi the director really did a good job.
For anybody who is into horror with a comedy touch this movie must be a 'must have'.The demons/special effects are over the top, really funny.Bruce's acting [a cross between Jack Nicolson/Jim Carrey]is sheer 100% ham but in the context of the movie he hits the right tone.For followers of this genre we know Bruce went on to make subsequent episodes based on this picture.This is the first episode and it is so good.

All in all no home should be without the Evil Dead dvd.

i had been looking for a copy at an avaliable price to meet my needs
i was amazed with the content of the book of the dead and the extras that came with the dvd.
i now need to purchase the rest of the series

Fantastic, a blast from the past, well directed by sam raimi and starring Bruce Campbell, who heads the whole trilogy, tells the story of a trip to the woods, a small secluded little cottage and ZOMBIES!!! If you like your Zombies, this is the film for you!!
