Back to my Orton roots
I saw this film in the 70's and it was my first exposure to the black humour of Orton. To this day when I watch Orton's work and I chuckle, in my mind something tells me I really shouldn't be laughing at this, because it usually represents someone's misfortune.
If you are new to the works of Joe Orton, you could do a lot worse than cut your teeth on this movie, but be prepared to wriggle with embarrassment whilst you snigger up your sleeve.
