Good Buy - and a bargain to boot!

Ellion DVD Recorder, Model DVR900.
Placed a bid for this basic DVD recorder, and was successful. Good communication from seller, and item arrived well packed and within stated time. All complete within the box as listed. Although supposed to be a cosmetic return, and refurbished, I couldn't find a mark on it and it looks completely brand new to me.
Set-up with the Instructions was simple, although being a basic model, it has a couple of foibles that newer more sophisticated units won't have - like you have to manually select the signal source and the Quality (recording quality) each time before Recording. On playback the rig showed everything I could throw at it, commercial movies, home movies, DVD and CD discs of all types and from different computer sources and other recorders.
On record, I had a couple of compatibility issues with discs, it really doesn't like unbranded cheapie DVD+R or DVD+RW discs and seems preferably 16x at that! The Instructions regarding Titling are a bit vague, and so far I haven't been able to Edit the Title on a disc - meaning I can't change the screen from showing "Title 1" to, let's say "Die Hard 24" or whatever the name is of the movie itself. Once finalized however, the discs will play on everything else I have around, two computers, a hand held DVD player, two other DVD machines I have - so no complaints there.
Overall, within it's limitations (Model came out around 2005) and for the money it's a great VFM buy! I paid about the same, including shipping, as a cheap player ONLY on the High Street. I should add (shhhh!) if you set it up to record from a VCR, it's happy to make DVD's of so-called protected VHS tapes as well as home movies.
READ the Instructions - you'll save yourself a lot of hassle!!
