Album Notes ZZ Top: Billy Gibbons (guitar, vocals); Dusty Hill (bass, synthesizers, vocals); Frank Beard (drums, percussion).ELIMINATOR, with its churning guitars and synthesizer hooks, was on the album charts for over a year, and had hits with "Sharp Dressed Man," "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Legs." The album and its accompanying videos were ubiquitous in 1983, on television ZZ Top was seen on MTV, "St. Elsewhere," even on the Tonight show. 1983 was the year Z.Z. Top went from being everyone's favourite bar-room boogie band to international superstars. Graced with mind-boggling and incredibly photogenic beards, a very neat trilogy of sexy videos and a collective ear for a quite distinct and highly stylized, if somewhat grizzled blues/pop, the sudden enormity of their success seems in retrospect like no real surprise. MTV had never quite seen the like and the attention given to the excellent 'Gimme All Your Lovin'' single was quickly repeated for both 'Sharp-Dressed Man' and the quite irreverent 'Legs'. It still sounds fresh, innovative and fun today. in the wake of many imitators. Editorial Reviews Rolling Stone (11/01/1989) | |||||||||||||||

These songs alone would have made Eliminator one of ZZ Top's three greatest albums, their embrace of Rock-synths and sequencers make this a blockbuster filled with hits & pure Energy. It's still an excellent ZZ Top album Review ID: 10000000004003524 Was this review helpful? Report this review Reviews I'd been looking for this particular Cd for ages, and I can't say enough just how brilliant this is. ZZ top is a band to be reckoned with and this cd I think is one of their best. Somehow you can't beat the orignal music. "Gimme All your Loving" has got to be a classic of all time and "Sharp Dressed Man" is ZZ Tops at their best. Brilliant music and more than worth adding to anyones collection. Some memorable and legendary songs - Gimme All Your Lovin' and Sharp Dressed Man are unsurpassable boogie rock at its best. Plenty of wry humour - TV Dinners is funky and funny. And right to the point lyrics - who can argue with 'She got her skirt slit up to her panties' (Legs). If you ask most people for their top 5 guitarists Billy Gibbons probably wouldn't get enough votes but this man knows his way round the frets and this is a polished performance. This was released on vinyl in 1983 and is arguably the best rock album of the eighties. Your ZZ Top collection ain't complete without it!
