The Eagles - Farewell Tour Part One (DVD)

For anyone who appreciates one of the greatest rock/country music bands ever, this is a must-have DVD. The songs are timeless classics ( mostly ) and the band members are consummate pros now and watching this is the next best thing to being at the concert. It's just a shame Don felder is not with them anymore.. though his replacement does an excellent job. Music doesn't come any better than this! This is one to buy and keep - not to rent.

I have seen various tracks of this DVD on Youtube, and as I already liked The Eagles stuff I thought I would look on E-Bay for the full show. I'm glad I did, as when I have a bad week, or things are just not what they should be, I put the DVD in my computer, put on my headphones and just let the world do whatever it wants.

Even better when accompanied by a glass of red wine, especially at the end of a week. The Eagles are note and voice perfect and still at the top of their profession. I have my favourite tracks like everyone does, but nearly every track on this DVD deserves to be listened too.

Alas I have not seen them live, but when I close my eyes and listen to this DVD I can imagine being right there in the front row. If you like music of the MOR type, or even semi country, with a bit of rock thrown in and some sublime slow numbers then look out for this DVD.

I also purchased a copy of the DVD Hell Freezes Over, and again just like this DVD the quality of the group is superb, and you have the chance to see class musicians play on acoustic guitars and still sound absolutely fabulous.
You can see by the cross section of the audience that The Eagles appeal to a wide variety of ages, not just those of us reminiscing from the 1970's.

There has been a few changes in the group since its inception, but the quality remains exactly the same, superb. Treat your ears to some class artists, the likes we are not likely to see again in the years ahead.

The Eagles have grown old wiser and smoother. The DVD is a live concert in Melborn Australia 2004. The guitar playing of Joe Walsh and the superb sideman Steuart Smith is perfection. All the great Eagles song we all know and love, and a few new numbers too.

If you can't get to see them live this is a good alternative.

I bought this as a present and the recipient was very pleased.

I first saw this concert last year in New Zealand. I am a big fan of The Eagles and this concert is stunning. I have a DVD of their earlier performance. The guys are showing their age but there talent is relentless. This is as breathtaking visually and sound wise as their earlier concert (Hell freezes Over). If you like the Eagles you will love this DVD.

I have given this DVD a rating of excellent but in my opinion it is better than excellent, but then my husband and I are avid Eagles fans, so maybe I am biased. Cant get enough of them. We borrowed this DVD from friends over Christmas and just had to own it. We were lucky enough to win this one on eBay and since receiving it about a month ago have already watched it at least half a dozen times. If you want entertainment and you love good music then this is a must for you. The Eagles' harmonising is second to none and the sheer musical talent is awesome, both of the Eagles themselves and their supporting musicians. All four of the Eagles have distinctive voices and they are all multi talented musical wise, each playing different instruments as well as singing. Just listen to Joe's fabulous song "One day at a time", but there isn't one song on the DVD that is not marvelous and you could never pick a favourite.

So sit in your most comfortable chair, have a glass of whatever your personal tipple is, switch on the DVD player and enjoy a fabulous musical concert (over and over again).

When I'd heard that The Eagles were releasing this DVD, my instinct was to rush out and buy it. However, as I'm always reminded by my family that I'm very difficult to buy for (Xmas, Birthdays), I asked for this Eagles DVD as my Christmas present. And without a shadow of doubt...this is the best Christmas present I've had for a long time (all other presents much appreciated).
It's only the end of January, and I've watched it right through 4 times already, and each time I get the same 'buzz' from watching this fabulous groups live performance. Great songs..some of their standard hits...some new songs from their latest CD (Long Road out of Eden) which I've also got....there are a few of Joe Walsh's individual songs...all this together with Great playing and Fabulous Vocal Harmony. All in All...Two and a Half hours of watching The Eagles on this DVD (10 hours if you count all 4 of my watchings), leaves me in hopeful anticipation of getting a ticket for one of their tour dates...and the possibility of a Farewell 2 Tour DVD being issued.
Yes..I'm a long standing Eagles fan....but I'm a fan of a lot of good groups and songwriters....but this DVD is just musical perfection for me. I just love their great songs, great vocals, fantastic playing, and harmonies that most other groups would love to be able to perform...LIVE.

I BROUGHT THIS DVD BECAUSE THE EAGLES ARE BRILLIANT THEY SOUND AS GOOD LIVE AS THEY DO ON CD I CAN NOT FAULT THE WHOLE DVD ALL THERE HITS ARE ON THIS DVD PLUS SOME OF THERE NEW MATERIAL DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT GO OUT AND BY IT FOR YOURSELF

For me, the "hell freezes over" dvd is still the ultimate showcase of musicianship and perfectionism.

However, the "farewell" dvd is a different beast - the 'boys' really rock and the humour comes across in spades - witness Joe Walsh with his headcam on stage.

Also if you've ever seen the brilliant Steuart Smith play with Rodney Crowell, then after watching this dvd you'll understand why the Eagles chose him to replace (if that word can be used in this context) the brilliant Don Felder.

Eagles fan? Go and treat yourself to this immediately - no no, sooner.

Not an Eagles fan? Shame.....
