I was looking for a cheap Ethernet switch to extend my Apple Airport wired system, which only has 3 ports, preferring to use 'wired' networking where possible. Initially I'd considered the 'new' 5 port boxes quite commonly available on eBay.
I saw this 16 port SMC box going cheaper than the new ones, and it just does the job. Many more ports than I needed, but I added some more cabled around the house, so have made use of them.
Great stuff, it's very solid, plug in, and off you go.
