Moving into the digital age has required change of us all and, not least in my case, having to replace all my vinyl favourites with recordings on CD.
Electric Light Orchestra's album 'Out Of The Blue' was such an old favourite that I decided to treat myself and get a new CD copy.
I am so glad I did! Not only do I get to sing along at the top of my voice to old favourite tracks, but I am immediately transported back to a simpler time of my life - school days, hot Summers, Sherbet Dipdabs, first loves etc.
Occasionally, like-minded retro advertisers will utilise 'Mr Blue Sky' for a feelgood marketing campaign, but they are missing out on the other fabulous tunes on this album; from the wide open prairies of 'Wild West Hero' and the orchestration of 'Concerto for a Rainy Day' and the rock and roll of 'Birmingham Blues' - I am a teenager again!!
This is a beautifully produced album with some great instrumentation, fabulous orchestration, lyrics and vocal harmonies. A true 70s classic released in 1977 when all around was punk.
Every single song destined to become a tune you can't stop singing!
Feelgood? Yes thank you very much!
