ELO II - Beyond the blue CD

The first LP I brought was ELO's Out of the Blue and just loved the sound of the band. Then I delved deeper into their past and pulled out the progressive sounds of the early years. I think it was John Lennon that said if the Beatles had continued playing then their sound would have ended up something like the ELO of the 70's. As the years went on I followed the music of Jeff Lynn through solo album and with the mighty Travelling Wilbury's and wanted to see ELO live but just never got the timing right so made do with LP's and CD's and video's. Then with ELO II I brought the CD's out of loyalty to the band and thought it might come close to that of the Jeff Lynn era of ELO. I was pleasantly surprised to find the music was on a par with ELO of the 70s and 80s and enjoyed a few more years of bliss listening to the old tunes with a slightly different line up.
I decided to buy this CD as it had a lot of the old favourites with a few newbies thrown in for good measure although they certainly didnt look out of place next to the ELO classics.
If you are a lover of the ELO sound then you will not be disappointed with ELO II I know that I certainly wasn't. If you do buy this CD after reading this review then I hope you get as much pleasure in listening to it as I have.
