Fantastic, return to form album by Duran Duran from 1993. Contains their classic "Ordinary world" which is worth the price of the album alone but many of the other tracks are well worth a listen.

In 1993, the band Duran Duran released a second self-titled album. This Duran Duran album is informally known as The Wedding Album (for Stephen Sprouse's cover art) to distinguish it from the band's debut 1981 release. I bought this album simply to add to my back catalogue and was very surprised to find two well known songs from the nineties on here. 'Ordinary World' and 'Come Undone' will appeal to indie fans of the nineties as much as die hard Duran fans. A more mature edge to this album takes Duran Duran away from their 80's teenybop image and transforms them into a band comfortable to experiment with a new sound. 'Femme Fatale' by the Velvet Underground is covered beautifully here too and 'None of the Above' exudes a Stone Roses/Oasis quality capturing brilliantly the change into Britpop at the time from a more early nineties soul sound, again showcasing Durans talent in capturing the moment.
This album is more for die hard fans as their poppy image of the 80's that most remember them for is left behind here (I myself am glad as it shows an unseen side to their talents) but is a great CD to whack on in the car or whilst your surfing the net. If you're into typical Duran Duran sounds this is not for you but for a more sophisticated sound i would DEFINITELY buy this album- its one of their best!

Duran Duran - The Wedding Album
Review created: 15/09/07

I can't think of a band that's more '80s than Duran Duran, so it's ironic that the band released its most consistent record in 1993.
The song that brought me onboard was "Ordinary World", a sweeping, dramatic orchestral ballad that features an unforgettable acoustic-guitar riff, a great, confident Simon Le Bon lead vocal, and Warren Cuccurullo's fiercest guitar work. The album version on here is far superior to the truncated, remixed single version. "Come Undone" had one of the most morbid yet memorable hooks of that year ("Can't ever keep from falling apart"), and "Too Much Information" features unusually self-aware lyrics and opens the album on a strong note.
