Doves - The Last Broadcast (CD 2002)

Doves started out as pop dance act sub sub. After one brief flirtation with the charts (aint no love, aint no use) they returned to Manchester in search of a new sound. Doves released their debut album to critical acclaim and many wondered if they could follow it with some more good work.

The last broadcast is their second offering and it does not disappoint. Lush soundscapes are on offer from the chiming opener of Words, through the single there goes the fear right the way through every track on the album. Other notable tracks are second single, pounding and the title track the last broadcast.

This album has it all and is a worthy purchase if found for the right price.

Fantastic album, well produced, really cant recommended it highly enough. Each track takes it from strength to strength from the track Words, with its catchy riff to Pounding's heavy beat building to an amazing finale. Finishing with Caught by the River, a lovely acoustic number, this is music at quite simply its best. Fans of Elbow should look no further, best listened to on some good quality headphones to appreciate the sheer greatness that has gone into this work of art. Enjoy.

Fantastic album. Easily up to Doves normal high standard. Highly recomended to any Doves fan. Includes the fantastic "There Goes the Fear".

Really really liked this album, some very good tracks, it's lived in my car since i bought it. I have 3 doves albums now and this is quite possibly the best, taking all the good bits of the first to make an awesome album. The 3rd album is almost as good.

Always like the songs when i heard them and recommended by friends over and over - and they werent wrong - superb album. One of those albums that you can never tire of

I had owned this previously but it had been stolen from my car. I had never got round to replacing it but hearing a track from this again on the radio reminded me of how much I had loved this CD so when I had the opportunity to purchase it again I grabbed it - with no regrets. I love having this CD back in my collection - the wonderful song structures and guitar arrangements make this one I always find it uplifting and great to listen to.
