Let's start with a "FACT" nobody can or could ever replace the icon that was Jim Morrison. As for an opinion.Well in mine, Ian Asbury really steps up to the mark here delivering a superb performance in front of what was probably a highly critical audience, (Thousands of DOORS fans!) He works superbly well with Ray and Robby who's performance and musicianship is second to none. This is the tour the Doors never got to perform due to the untimely departure to the other side of the Lizard King.
I would definately recommend this to any Doors fan, I know Morrison is missing and many would say that he was The Doors but just listen to the performance and imagine!
Never having had the honour and privilage of seeing the greatest band ever live, this is the closest I am ever likely to get. Unless of course, The Doors Of The 21st Century decided to go on a world tour.

DREAM ON!

enjoyable as I was too young to have seen the original band, however I thought Val Kilmer has a far better voice than Ian Astbury...

Ever since hearing the Doors had reformed for a one off tour i was more than curious to find out how they sounded. With Ray Manzarek back on keyboard and Robby Krieger back on guitar. Orginally Stuart Copeland from The Police was replacing John Densmore on drums but he broke his ankle and the story is he actually started legal proceedings against the rest of the band for continuing with the tour. Ty Dennis stepped in on drums who had previously played with The Robby Krieger band. Phil Chen on bass who over the years has racked up stage time with Jeff Beck, Rod Stuart, Eddie Van Halen ,Brian May to name but a few and of course Ian Ashbury from The Cult replacing Jim Morrison up front.
I know alot of the diehards have said it could never be done but then i'm guessing they never saw this dvd. It is truly an amazing show. I have all their orginal albums and even the remixed stuff including the three dance versions of Riders on the storm so i reckon i know what i'm talking about. If you loved what they did back then you will love this too.
