I have finally caught up with my collection this being the last one to collect of course, until the Christmas Special one that is. Now I can watch all the whole series at my leisure. This is an excellent three parter and a brilliant way to end series three. I give all 3 episodes 5/5.

  What a finale!

Amazing three episodes, wonderful to see Captain Jack back and John Sim as the Master will have you alternately laughing out loud and crying! Fantastic cameo from Derek Jacobi. The Beeb really pull the stops out when it comes to acquiring the cream of British acting talent for this series!

As always, David Tennant is a true Star as The Doctor!

Dr Who Series 3. Vol. 4
Review created: 13/07/08

It keeps you guessing on the cliffhangers, but in the back of your mind you know the Doctor will pull through. However, the cast and crew who created it all, should be congratulated on there spectacular finale to it.

Doctor who, series 3, volume 4

I never (personally) liked Christopher Eccleston as Dr. Who - I'd always imagined Dr. Who to be quirky, whimsical and quixotic, which is not how Christopher Eccleston plays him. The interaction between Dr. Who (played by David Tennat) and Captain Jack Harkness is much more enjoyable and it is very interesting (if you're a Torchwood fan) to see the way the Captain Jack character has matured, much more like the way the character is portrayed in the Torchwood series.

  The Master Is Back
Review created: 16/02/08

This is my favourite of all the David Tennant Doctor Who stories. Why? Because it has the best villain. Forget the Daleks, ignore the Cybermen. The Master is back and he's badder and madder than ever! A brilliant performance by John Simm leaves the Doctor on the sidelines for once. As for Derek Jacobi... the chilling look in his eyes when he knows who he really is - now that is acting.
From present day Earth to the end of the Universe and back again, the Doctor and friends go on an amazing journey and meet a delightful scientist with a terrible secret. The story is great, quirky, witty and scary. There are some terrific one liners, mostly from John Simm's Master this despite the presence of the usually show stealing Captain Jack Harness, taking a brief vacation from Torchwood.
For once the Doctor has met his match, another Time Lord, equally gifted, equally knowledgeable, is about to master the universe. With the Doctor and Jack prisoner can Martha Jones really save the day?
My favourite scene is the Master dancing around to Scissor Sister's 'I can't decide', master and lord of all he surveys and milking every moment!

Must Have for any Dr WHO Fan

Doctor Who - Series 3 Vol. 4 [2007]

The return of The Master has been one of the many recent triumphs of Doctor Who. And with this, the final single DVD release of season three of the show, the three concluding episodes deliver John Simm’s majestic take on one of the Doctor’s deadliest and oldest enemies.

These three episodes also see Torchwood’s Captain Jack Harkness rejoining the Tardis, and along with the Doctor and Martha, there’s a mighty battle to be fought.

It all starts with "Utopia", one of the very finest episodes of Doctor Who’s third season. This is a clever, slow-burning tale, with Derek Jacobi guest-starring, and it features a final ten minutes so good it’s enough to make Who fans weep. Things continue with some style in "The Sound Of Drums", where The Master really comes into his own, replete with a devastating cliffhanger to set up the season finale. And ironically, it’s that finale, "The Last Of The Time Lords", that’s the weakest of the three here, a slightly muddled--but still very enjoyable--wrapping up of a very strong series.

The skill of these three episodes is how cleanly they interweave with the subtle building blocks that have been put in place for them over the duration of Doctor Who’s run. And with an ending the bodes well for the 2007 Christmas special too, this DVD is further proof of just what strong shape Doctor Who is in
