Doctor Who - Series 1 Vol.2 - DALEKS REIGN SUPREME!!

Doctor Who was my favorite T.V series as a kid, and this DVD is excellent!

In the first episode, Aliens Of London, Rose and the Doctor return to the normal time line, hoping for peace. But it was a mistake. Strange things begin to happen, such as alien spaceships landing, and its clear aliens have landed in london.

In the second episode, World War Three, the alien battle continues. The Doctor forces the army to his side, as they try taking down the many aliens. But the only weapon strong enough appears to be a nucleur missile.

Last but definately not least, Dalek. As Rose and the Doctor travel forwards in time, they arrive in a strange museum for alien belongings, and deep down we meet the Doctors worst fear. The Dalek! But he's trapped, as a hostage. Until, at long last he is let loose...taking out all in his path! How will the docter get out of this one?

No matter what you think about this not being as good as the old series, it's just as good! You won't be let down by this DVD.

  I Love Daleks!

The second DVD of the new Doctor Who sees a 2 parter featuring a new enemy called the Slitheen and the return of the Doctor's most famous and feared opponents - the Daleks.
The Slitheen 2 parter ('Aliens of London' and 'World WarIII')has many fine moments - the decoy spaceship crashing into Big Ben and then the Thames, the reintroudction of UNIT from the 70's era, a spacepig (!), the development of Rose's mum and boyfriends characters and the introduction of Harriet Jones MP). For the adults, however, the Slitheen appear somewaht puerile although the children genuinely appear to love the changing skinsuits and farting (sorry, gas suit emissions!). Overall, good fun but one of the weaker stories in the season.
The 6th epsiode (the third on this disc) is simply called "Dalek" and is without doubt one of the best relaunches of a jaded concept ever. The writer punches hard and to the point - Daleks are incredibly evil and terrifying creatures and yes they can fly! The remodelled Dalek looks the job and Eccleston is great throughout - one of his best performances. Genuinely one of the best Doctor Who scripts ever!
Titbit: The Doctor and Rose pick a new friend (Adam) at the end - you can see what happens to him tthe next episode.
One warning - there are no extra's with this disk - you need the TARDIS complete season one boxset for them. But with the emotional punch of "DALEK", who cares!
So 3/5 for the Slitheen, 10/5 for Dalek - 5/5 overall!

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

What a shame he didnt stay for more series??

I enjoy Mr Tennent but Mr McGann was so much better!

Anyway DVD is very good and no messy front menu. I bought this mainly as it has the Dalek episode in it - were Billy Piper re-activates the last (well ay this point it was) remaining Dalek which then develops a nice side that allows her ot live then blows it self up. It is also the first time we are introduced to flying Daleks - quite cool

Doctor Who - The New Series - Vol. 2 (DVD)

This DVD IS FANTASTIC, after Christopher ECCLESTONS' departure, i wondered how they could match the storylines, but the BBC did it! The production is superb!

You have to buy this DVD, amzing is the word, you will never be bored with this, the stories inter-link and the meander of time in the stories wrap each other and so cleverly done, many of the details is so interesting the characters of ROSES' family start to shine, and the way the Doctor is changing of the viewer? i say that with a metaphor, the stle is the same, but your finding out more abou the DALEKS AND THE TIME WAR! This one DVD TO BUY A MUST!

5/5 "YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE BUY ON EBAY!"
