Album Notes
The Waco Brothers: Deano, Jonboy (guitar, vocals); Tracey Dear (mandolin, vocals); Durante (steel guitar); Alan Sprocket Doughty (bass); Leopard Boy Goulding (drums).Additional personnel: John Rice (fiddle); Dave Max Crawford, Paul Mertens (horns); Tom Ray (acoustic bass); John "Brenny" Brennan (bass).Engineers: Kenny Sluiter, Baron Von Trumfio, Mike Hagler. The Waco Brothers were on a roll in 1997, releasing two of their best albums (this and COWBOY IN FLAMES) within months of each other. A perfect companion piece to COWBOY IN FLAMES, DO YOU THINK ABOUT ME continues to explore the socially-conscious cowpunk territory the band staked out on its debut album, but with a few new twists. The horn section on the title song adds a touch of early-'70s Stones, and a savage take on Neil Young's "Revolution Blues" reveals that the Wacos' influences extend beyond Nashville. The agile Western Swing-style steel guitar of "Hard Times" and the folkie pining of "Arizona Rose" show that the band is still headed down the distinctive and rewarding track on which they began.

The insurgent country movement is, more often than not, home to bands who play three-chord tunes because it's the extent of their ability. The Wacos...are among the exceptions...
