Dixie Chicks - Fly (CD 1999)

I love the way Dixie Chicks compile their music, it appeals to both young and old as it has various songs that appeal to you in some sort of way in your life, past or present.
The songs touch the heart and let you know that you are not the only person going through similar circumstances.
I have all their albums now and can't wait to hear the next hopefully they will release more!!

I have recently become a Dixie chick's fan and they are now, by far, my favourite band! You can not listen to any of their albums and stop yourself from tapping your feet! Great country music, with a modern edge! I love the Dixie Chicks! This CD is great!

Bought recent album 'Taking the Long Way' and it was excellent so thought I would try 'Fly' which had good reviews. It is more country than the first mentioned but loses nothing for this. There are fewer of their own compositions, which on 'Taking the Long Way' are diverse and wonderful, but maybe playing other writers songs offers good balance. My wife is not the biggest country fan but she has been converted to 'The Chicks'.

All the Dixie Chicks albums are outstanding but this one has the edge. The best track by far is Cowboy Take Me Away, just listen to the lyrics. The album has a bit of everything. Give it a listen and country music will never be the same again.

THis is another great album by the Dixie Chicks. It has some very funy songs such as Goodbye Earl which has a serious message under its funny lyrics but also has classic Dixie Chicks country ballads on it. Well done girls.

This Album changed my mind about Country Music - Earl had to die must be made into a movie - worth the price of the album alone - mattress dancing , new words for the very foundation of life . Try it - the songs will push you into exploring the Dixie Chicks from start to finish.

Bought this in HDCD form - put on my new CD player and wow. Not just for fans of western music but for everyone.
If anyone is listening out there - we need more HDCD recodings, not only better quality but better care in presenting the music. Roy

There are only about forur songs i like on this album. This CD is only really for Country Lovers, as these songs have a more country feel to them than the later TLW album. saying that there are still some good songs onn there Cowboy take me away is really romantic, Goodbye Earl, and Without You are probably the songs that stod out from the rest for me.

First heard this in Texas on holiday and couldnt believe that Bush had banned them for one comment about him made in the UK

I do think the Dixie Chicks are brilliant and I'm not a fan of true country music; I just love their vibrance and passion that shows in their music.
This album has the typical country sound but is easier on the ear for us folks who are a bit CountryMusic shy. I think its a British thing, not being able to completely relate to the banjo bashing sound, but if you're ok with soft rock and folk music I think you'll be charmed by the Chicks :-)
My favourite tracks have GOT to be Goodbye Earl and also Ready To Run.
