Diary Of Ellen Rimbauer (DVD 2005)

If you have seen ROSE RED, then you MUST see "The Diary Of Ellen Rimbauer" as it is the Prequal to the Rose Red saga.

It explains many of Rose Red's unanswered questions. And tells us the story of when Rose Red was built. It really is a great movie that fits together with Rose Red like a puzzle connecting. If you liked Rose Red you must see this movie to complete the story.

After researching the storey behind Rose Red by Stephen King I was curious to know more about the life of Ellen Rimbauer. I came across this DVD whilst looking for Rose Red and was amazed that a film was actually made by taking documented events from a dairy kept by Ellen of the strange happenings that unfolded in the house. I purchased this DVD to expand my interest on the life of Ellen Rimbauer and was quite pleasantly suprised with the content which I found to be very interesting. It give me an insight into the life in the house and the strange happenings that was documented by Ellen Rimbauer through her dairy. I found this film to be excellent in quality and sound and would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the paranormal!

i enjoyed rose red so when i saw this i wanted to see it, as it starts at the begining and lets you know the story of rose red.

one simple fact, the stephen king element, this prequel to rose red is very good if you get a chance to watch it DO IT, you always get good entertainment when you have a steve king film in front of you

Id already purchased ROSE RED which is the sequel to the Diary of ellen Rimbauer..As the first is an excellent steven king movie i wanted to see the first,and was very pleased to see it on Ebay....

i like this film because it stays within the story of the book of the same name. i bought the dvd as i like to watch thrillers and the sequel is very good aswell

the reason i bought this film is i had got rose red and i didnt think that it explained enough so when i found the prequel i couldnt wait to buy it i dont think that you can enjoy rose red fully until you have watched this one the fact it has all the charatures in both films so there is a continuaty about it

I already have Rose Red by Stephen King and only just found out about this prequel.I really enjoyed the suspense and the way the story was enacted.True to the book.

I thought that "The Diary Of Ellen Rimbauer" was quite a good watch. I do think that you're at an advantage if you have seen Rose Red before hand, as this explains the events which are mentioned in Rose Red in more detail.

What I did enjoy about this film was that it showed you how Rose Red grew to love so much that she became angered by Ellen’s love for her daughter April. And also how the film shows John Rimbauer as being such a promiscuous and evil man.

I would definitely suggest watching this film, especially for all the Stephen King fans out there!!

It's likely that The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer will be a good introduction to Rose Red. If you haven't seen either, I would suggest that you watch Rose Red first as it was produced in that order.
Written as a prequel to Rose Red, The Diary has higher production quality than RR, but it's shorter and more intense. It has worked hard to maintain the integrity of the original story and once again, it's a mere 15 rating so the horror in itself is retained in the concept as opposed to the graphic quality.
Would I recommend it? I certainly wouldn't insult it but it sticks to conventions like glue and of course, Stephen King has less input so for those who are avid King fans, you may be disappointed.

The reason i originally wanted this film is because i loved the 'rose red' film, i think it's fantastic. I don't think 'Ellen Rimbauer' is as good but i think that's mainly because it's so short. 'rose red' was a lot longer (2 dvd's worth) because it has so much to fit in and if they had shortened the film then it would have missed a lot out that it really needs. It's the same with the 'ellen' one - they should have made it longer because there just seems to be a lot missing. There's also the odd bit that contradicts 'rose red' but then you get that with every prequel/sequel. Basically i think it's a pretty good film it just would have been a lot better if they'd put a bit more effort in putting more details in and not worrying about keeping it to one dvd!
