I really didn't want to go and see this film. the line up didn't excite me, the plot didn't excite me, and to be honest i am pretty critical of films overall. i don't scare and jump easily, and hate obscene unnecessary gore. but...this film was bloody marvellous ! this is clearly and by far the best scary film i have seen in my whole 32 years and was soooo unexpectedly fantastic that i am going to have to watch this again. i have never made a murmer in a cinema apart from the odd giggle at the funnies, but this film had me screaming in terror on not one, but at least 4 or 5 occasions. and for me that's really good going. it has terror, horror, a little gore, story, twists, turns, and an exceptional ending. i am not easily pleased believe me, but this ticks all the right boxes for a damn good film !!! watch this with the lights out, and the volume up...and on the biggest screen you can find.

You saw the trailers... it didnt tell you much about the movie... So when we rented it i didnt know what to expect... I just looked like a bunch of lesbians going Potholing down some caves in canada... That was until they got deeper and deeper into the caves... It is seriously the SCARIEST movie i have seen in living memory. i cannot express that enough.. Its up there with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. thats the only other truly terrifieing movie i can think of right now.. It is So intense my palms where sweating!! What they encounter down those caves is truly work of genius. But i have to admitt, i think the writers where inspired by a certain charector out of Lord of the rings!

Ultimately, The Descent does provide enough thrills and scares to overlook the lapses, with eeriness that stays with you long after the credits have finished rolling. Frighteningly realistic at times, with moments that will have you squirming in your seat, and if Marshall could have only had the nerve to break free from staple genre conventions, this could have been one that would please more than horror junkies. Still, the scare factor is quite high, enough to make the you want to stick your head in the ground from fright -- but then again, once you start watching, that's probably the last place you'd think to put it..

The Descent is about a small group of female friends who go caving for a long weekend to relax and have fun. They find a cave and start their journey. After a while they feel they are not alone. With no map and a feeling that they are lost, things go from bad to worse. Something is stalking them and they are totally lost and alone in the dark. Will anyone survive?
I found this film pretty good and realistic. The acting was good and believable. Plenty of jumps and gory bits to keep you on the edge of your chair. Liked the twist at the end too. Enjoyed the film because it was hard to guess what was going to happen next. Well worth watching. 9 out of 10.

Absolutely fantastic film, better than all the other cave movies that are going about at the moment like the Cave and the Cavern. They are good but this has to be the best one between them all. If you like a good scary horror then this will do it for you.

This is a DVD I bought in a bored moment. I was surprised how good it turned out to be. Well scripted and acted, the all female group were convincingly convincing in their predicament - lost in an underground set of caverns. Of course, they weren't alone, and their foes were creepy enough to make me watch this until the end.

Absolute top quality film,with edge of your seat moments.Not only is this a tense and scary film it also has an big surprise ending compared to other horror/thriller films i have seen (i wont spoil it) definately worth a watch.

the descentFantastic film a must have for all horror fans. I remember taking my mate to see this film at the cinema and i love all films and she dont like horror films and when we were in there she was shaking from start to finish, alot of people did jump as when you watch it for the first time especially at the cinema it can be jumpy but it is a fantastic film.
