Derailed (DVD)

Heavily criticised on it's cinema release but i found this a watchable thriller and not as implausible as many crtics have said.The plot is farily simple but there's enough in the story to keep your interested and the always watchable Owen and Anniston deliver decent if not outstanding performances and Anniston's role in particular delivers one or two surprises and is a departure from her normal goody two shoes characters.
I guess there are a few cinematic liberties taken but then so do most thrillers don't they.I could list dozens of other Hollywood thrillers that were less exciting and more far fetched than this one so don't believe everything the cinema critics say.
A decent,watchable but not outstanding thriller awaits the viewer here - not the best of the year but certainly not the worst.

A disappointing film in my view and I wonder why it has been classified as a 15. Jennifer Anniston stars as a women who with her partner cons wealthy men out of a fortune by pretending to be drawn to them and then taking them to a hotel for an affair during which they are interrupted by her boyfriend, posing as a robber, who proceeds to rob them both and rape her. The boyfriend then makes contact with the unsuspecting mand to extort money out of them, while she plays along with the ruse, by saying that her husband must not find out about the affair between her and the man and also suggesting that she has had an abortion following the 'rape' by the robber. Eventually the man who has been conned begins to question if she has been lying to him all along and he begins to follow her, where he finds that his suspicions are confirmed, he continues to follow her and interrupts the new 'con', which ends with three people dying, including her. He is also able to retrieve the money that he had been conned out of. The con man however does not die and is tracked down to a prison where he is also killed.
The film has scenes of graphic violence including murder and the rape scenes are also quite disturbing. The acting is not much to write about either. A thoroughly disappointing film and I would not recommend it to anyone, least of all a child of fifteen. I believe the film should be reclassified as an 18 due to the nature of the violence within it.
Whilst this is a change of direction from Jennifer Anniston's usual 'funny' roles, I do not believe it was a good move for her. She shows that she is capable of serious acting as well as comedy but the script lets her down on this one.
Definitely one to miss!

I am vry annoyed about this seller. I paid for this item when I won the bid, and this person gave me a postive feedback but refused to post me the item, I tried to get in touch but it was said "Seller no longer on ebay". Bang out of order, and I wish I could get a refund!

This is one of the best thrillers in recent years without a doubt. It has the Hitchcock theme of 1 man literally pilled up against the odds. Firstly one strong point that this movie is giving off is the remarkable performances! Especially from Aniston I never new she could act! She really actually crazily does all right in this movie but Owen really does capture the movie. This thriller has some really interesting twists and manipulation techniques that keep you watching. There isn’t much action in this movie it’s mainly set around dialogue and key scenes that progress the movie. Just after you watch the film you just know you have seen a strong piece of work that really did what it set out to do. The main twist at the end becomes a little clearer as soon as some key information is let loosed but apart from that its a strong, dialogue based, hard thriller that has some really nice moments of thrills. 4 out of 5 stars

Really enjoyed this thriller, the plot was interesting and diverse and the twists kept you guessing, Clive and Jennifer were great in it and the villains suitably menacing!

Really good if you enjoy a good suspense thriller with some twists and turns.

Only minus was the character Winston who just plain annoyed me!!

Wasn't expecting much from this film having seen some reviews but I thought it was great. I haven't studied film so believe me, I don't know what I am talking about ;-) As a member of Joe Public, I thought it romped along at a fair old rate and the twist at the end (the very end) was unexpected. Rent it for an intriguing evening

whati liked about Derailed dvd was because the quality was amazing, ive watched it twice and ive lent it to family and the quality is just as great from when i first watched it. The cover was perfect quality and fit for a spare dvd case i had. The seller had 100% feedback, the dvd was cheap, packaged very well and delivery was very swift, i would love to do business again

excellent film, its good to see jennifer aniston playing a diferent part. The story is a thriller with a good twist at the end. I bought it because i had already seen it at the pictures and wanted to watch it again. Its a film i could watch again and again. Loved the plot and all the actors in it, wont say anymore or i will be giving to much of the story away and then you might feel you have already seen it. Enjoy watching and happy bidding.

A good story but too much was missing from the original. The book was gripping and I felt the film lost some of this.Even my better half sussed out the plot early on.Worth watching though.

This is a brilliant dvd. You can't predict what will happen next. It had me gripped. It's one of the best fils i've seen in a long time. Definetly buy it you won't be dissapointed!

This movie starts out with a promising theme. Bored married man and bored married woman meet; fatal attraction and, then the movie just derails. There is a semblance of chemistry between Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen but it quickly evaporates. Clive Owen is married, has a daughter with a chronic illness, bored with his job and his life, meets Jennifer Aniston; married wiht a daughter and too busy husband and an attraction ensues. They meet a couple of times and then one fateful night they go to a hotel. They start to make love when they are interrupted by a man with gun. A beating, a rape and then life starts to fall apart for both of them. Blackmail ensues and then Clive Owen decides he has to do something about this man who is ruining his life. All is not what it seems, and the twists and turns in this movie are out of line. You become confused and begin to lose interest.

The final scene is so out of character that you wonder if this is the same story line or was one juxtaposed to give this movie some life. Whatever has happened, the movie has taken a final turn that does not make sense. Too bad, both Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston separately are fascinating people. Together they did not make a team. Disappointing.

I prchased this DVD on the strength of Clive Owen, if you can overlook his dreadful American accent you'll find yourself watching a passable little potboiler. Jennifer Anniston proving once again that she can play meatier roles than the ditzy Rachael from Friends. The movie however, belongs to the excellent and underated Vincent Cassal, the meanest movie baddie in a long time (Casting Agents for evil an nemesis to James Bond take note!). The plot has some good twists and turns, Owen plays Charles Schine a married, mild mannered ad exec, with a seriously ill daughter, he meets the sexy Lucinda (Anniston)on a train to Chicago. The pair end up in a seedy hotel when LaRoche (Cassal)robs them, then blackmails them saying he'll kill their families unless they pay him. Can Schine save the day? Watch it for the unexpected and dramatic finale. Although slated by the critics I found it an entertaining night in. The musical score is great for rap fans.

This was a very clever thriller. I really enjoyed it. It had loads of twists and turns, and kept you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

Superb well acted Hitchcock stlye thriller with two great actors.
Jennifer Aniston leaves her 'rom com' image far behind, and the on screen chemistry betwen her and Clive Owen shines.

Twist after double twist make this an enjoyable and not to long ride to the end.

I missed it whilst it was at the cinema and finally picked it up on Ebay. It didn't disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was great entertainment. Why?

The storyline is intriging and exciting. Although, not as fresh and original as others, but it does very well. The suspense is great and the twist is unpredictable till the end.

The cast are great, with Aniston and Owen as the lead. They are believeable and a good match.

If you want a film that keeps you hanging, this is it.

It totally shocked me, as I didnt twig throughout the whole film that there would be a twist.

Only bad points were that clive owens character got away with so much which wasnt realistic enough to believe towards the end.

A very clever film would definately watch it over and over again. ANiston was brilliant broke away form her Friends character status in this film.

The idea for this story is a good one, Clive Owen is very good as the bored married man, Jennifer Aniston is as brilliant as ever as the temptress, Vincent Cassel is truly evil!

The one thing which let this film down was that it was so easy to guess the twist ending. I jut felt it had been done before...

Having said that though, I would watch this film again, it is well acted, well filmed, and is good entertainment.

I was totally taken in by the storyline of this fantastic dvd. Im sure there are very few men around who would turn Jennifer Anniston down if she was to flirt with them on a train! This film goes on to play out a story of what happens next with so many neat twists. I watched it with my partner and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It was exiting to watch the whole way through. An excellent nights viewing. well worth renting or buying.

AFTER WATCHING THIS ON TV I REALLY NEEDED TO BUY IT, I HAVE SINCE WATCHED IT A DOZEN TIMES AND IT'S STILL AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED VIEWING!!
