Depeche Mode - Ultra

This is a welcome comeback from Depeche Mode with some of their best songs in a decade. It is a far departure from their earlier albums but this time they managed to make a good turn and rely on what they know best. Dave Gahan is back here from his private hell and sounds better than ever. The usage of gutiars and other 'enchancments' is absolutely reliable here while it was not on their earlier albums. The fusion is perfect.
About the songs: there are no fillers, highlights are the singles released (Barrel Of a Gun, It's No Good, Home, Useless), but my favorite song is Sister Of Night. It reminds me of Waiting For The Night from Violator. There are some instrumental tracks as well (this is a Depeche Mode album after all). My other favorite song is Home, I can't tell you how many times I listened to that song on cold, lonely winter nights and it always gave me a warm touch.
So if you were disappointed by DM's 90's tries, you should listen to this album, this time the guys managed to bring back the sound that is the trademark of the band. Great album.
