Dell Latitude D600 (NB312) PC Notebook

THIS MACHINE IS VERY SLEEK STYLISH AND PERFECT IF YOUR ON THE MOVE OR JUST USING FOR HOME USE OR OFFICE USE, IT HAS A VERY FAST PENTIUM M PROCESSER AND CAN RUN ALL PROGRAMS AND IS EVEN VISTA COMPATIBLE PLUS ITS A GREAT LOOKING MACHINE AND I FIND MINE HIGHLY RELIABLE.

Actually i bought it for my friend. He was looking for a laptop but he didn't have an idea of a good laptop. I'm not a tech guy, but i understand them well, so i got the job of selecting one for him. He only needs to surf and do his projects with it. So i found the dell latitude d600 to be more than perfect, judging its configuration. It had centrino 1.6 ghz processor, 512 mb ram and 40 gb hard drive. Moreover, wifi built-in. As i said more than perfect. I decided to go for it and won it! I received the item eventually and found out its in fairly good condition. Its wi-fi was a bit different than the apple book that i use, but i figured it out. I tried and tested it for a week. Everything seemed to be ok. The speed, ease of use made me fall in love with it. Its light weight makes it “mobile”. Long story short, -i loved that notebook. Only two things bugged me-first the track pad seemed not so ok, the pointer doesn't move frequently and the other one is the hard drive. It makes a lot of noise. Experience says thats the language of hard drives telling that the end may be near. But overall considering price and configuration, its wonderful. I'm satisfied with the product.

The Dell D Series of laptops are outstanding for everyday use and there are some real bargains to be had on Ebay now for these devices.

One important consideration to think of before purchasing these is screen size and aspect. The D400 series is a very small form factor laptop which is great when size and weight is an issue but the screen is small so extended use, particularly internet surfing, word processing etc is a little hard on the eyes. The D420 and 430 are widescreen too !

The D505 and 600 series are normal size screens - much better for higher resolution BUT you need to consider if you want a widescreen or standard 4:3 aspect screen before purchasing.

The D620 & D630 laptops are widescreen which is great for movies, multimedia etc but not as ideal for word processing or web browsing. Sure the widescreen is great across the page but consider it is not as tall as a normal 4:3 screen therefore you end up scrolling up and down a lot which is not ideal.

The D505, D600 and D610 laptops are standard 4:3 aspect XVGA screens and outstanding clarity - as these are slightly older models they can be picked up for a song on Ebay.

A couple of other pointers:

1. Battery Life on any laptop degrades over time and I regularly see Dell laptops listed without mention of the battery. A replacement battery can cost a lot on a Dell laptop so worth checking with the seller how long the laptop lasts on battery alone. A good way to save battery life is to turn down the brightness (use keyboard functions to do this). Reduced brightness can give a lot longer battery time.

2. Is the laptop provided with a power supply AND the power cable to the supply. These are propriatory Dell so are also not too cheap to replace.

3. Upgrading memory on a Dell is really easy and there are a lot of good brand compatibles out there. To upgrade the memory you simply open up a small panel with a single screw in the base of the laptop and the 2 memory slots are exposed. If you want a cheap upgrade to one of these laptops, open this panel, read the description on the memory's sticker (such as PC2700 CKL2.5.... etc and search for larger size modules on Ebay). I just bought 2 x 512mb Genuine Dell for £12 !

4. The D505 and D600 series laptops come with a modular bay for the CD & floppy drive and are interchangeable between these models. Some are shipped with a CD reader and others with a CDRW or DVDRW drive so look at this carefully - if it has a writer included its worth a bit more !

For software licence, Dell put their COA stickers onto the laptop and as long as you have any Dell restore CD then you can put the O/S back on very easily. For XP there is no need to enter the COA key during installation and it is pre activated so no need to contact Microsoft. For the newer Vista machines though it is all pre-configured the same but you do need to activate it with Microsoft. Beware though the restore CD's do check its a Dell machine chipset so don't work on other brands of laptops or desktops.

Finally another great feature of the Dell D Series laptops is the D series docking station. These too can be picked up on Ebay for a good price and provide all the usual external connectors for screen, keyboard, mouse, audio, USB etc. Your laptop simply slots onto this and XP/Vista will detect it as docked. The screen, keyboard and mouse can be plugged in therefore turning your laptop into a desktop machine very easily !

This laptop is light yet powerful enough for most needs - a superb all-rounder. I owned a D600 for 3 years, used it almost daily and had no problems with it whatsoever. I only sold it to buy another Dell laptop with a larger hard disk and Windows Vista.

Good Points: The Dell D600 is unexpectedly fast and has outstanding features. The D600 has an integrated dual-band wireless antennae that will help the end user access wifi hotspots quickly when on the go. Also featured: built-in Bluetooth

Bad Points: Older Latitude C series do not have compatible docking stations

General comments: Over all this is a Dell and it's like the Quartz that keeps on ticking. It's durable and light enough to carry anywhere the user needs to go.

i like my item as it is not slow and i can do what i wanted to do with it and that surf the net and ebay as quick as i need to do

this an excellent buy at a very reasonable price. Well worth the money, i would recomend it to all. The specs on this machine are excellent and any slight imperfections in the case arent noticeable at all.

The Dell C600 laptop is a very good item for everyone, you can upgrade everything on it and internet is very good with a wireless card fitted.
It can be taken anywhere as it is light but very strong .It can stand nocks and bags.
You will not be sorry buying one any of the Dell C laptops are great.
resale on them is very good too , I have never had a problem with these laptops that can't be fixed at home so no big bills to come.
Extras for these well their are hundreds and I think I have them all they are just great fun.And that from an old man as my son calls me just below the 50 but feel 25.Well if she lets me.No back to the laptop !!! Just buy one and have fun or if you like faster laptops not that these are slow I should say if you like more ram to be fitted buy the C610 or the C640 as the too are great same size but WOW great.Well I hope this helps you make your minds up and don't be shy just buy the best all round laptops around the DELL C Series.

A powerful little dual core laptop, at a low price. Packed with enough features and connections for me to be able to use it for my intended purpose, and not bogged down with other gimmicky features that other manufacturers seem to insist on shipping there laptops with. All in all, very impressed so far.

This is an excellent value laptop, I have upgraded the Ram to 2GB,fitted 160GB hard drive and added a 2nd drive(160GB)in the modular bay as a music store, very versatile machine and the 1.6Ghz processor is very quick it is as fast as a 3Ghz desktop processor.

This laptop makes an excellent desktop replacement and is easy to upgrade.

The laptop has excellent processing power coupled with above average battery performance. When using 512mb + of ram, the system works very well with a wide range of applications. Its small and easy to carry without a laptop bag, it is by far the most portable laptop I have used to date.

this is just what i was looking for very well discribed and pictured the scratches were nothing but i bought a stick on cover with rally car on and cleaned it up its quick light and easy to use and i prefer xp also what a price i am well pleased thanx northstarformula1

this is a great laptop one piece of advice dont spill anything on as this fried my first so had to buy another.

the item specifications and configuration made it a good value for money and made me to buy the product.

birtday present for my farther he loves itjust carnt get it to go wi fi but im sure he will sort it out

It arrived later than promised, looking shabbier than it had done in the photo, which was a huge disappointment as it was a present for my wife's birthday.

After using it twice it simply stopped working. I telephoned customer services and they instructed me to send it back to them.

I duly did at a cost of £20 by registered delivery and even though it was 15 days ago have not had so much as an acknowledgement of receipt.

I emailed on Monday and still haven't received an answer.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE

I bought this laptop to work from home. It was a bargain at £150 and came pretty much in perfect condition.

The best thing about it is how easy it is to set up wireless Internet; 1 click and I was done, away and surfing; it's quick, too.

The only thing wrong with it is that the cursor sometimes creeps across the screen on its own.

The machine itself was brilliant.
What i didnt agree with was the neutral feedback i received because i asked twice where my nxt day delivery item was and the first time was 5 days after purchase, cant seem to contact ebay at all so thought id write it in here.

great laptop works perfectly. the decription was spot on and it's ecellent for the purpose i purchased it for. thanks well pleased.

Only tried laptop briefly as its a xmas present. Everything seems straight forward and working as should be. Prefer my own fujitsu siemens amilo.
