Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Laptop (N11M0902) PC Notebook

it fits in my daily busy life, battery is very good to say its 4 cell, its fast and smooth with no fan sound at all.

Bought this netbook for the wife which already had Windows XP Home loaded on it but wanted something quite easy for her to use so I installed OSX Leopard on it, the guides and utilities where availiable on the web (http://i.gizmodo.com/5156903/how-to-hackintosh-a-dell-mini-9-into-the-ultimate-os-x-netbook) which made installation a breeze, overall its fairly lightweight and sturdy, the machine is more than capable of running any of the OS's XP/Ubuntu/OSX (don't let the specs fool you) however Vista runs a little slow on it, all the bits of hardware work fine with OSX on the netbook (internal webcam, bluetooth, wifi) the only thing I haven't tried is the inbuilt card reader but I've heared SDHC works but none of the others media card reader function fully just yet but thats a small price to pay, I know what your gonna say WHY APPLE OSX, well the wife has never used a computer and I've found this as a good stepping stone plus I can always reformat it to Windows or Linux in the future so not a problem. For all thoes mac owners out there "I wrote this on a PC running Windows XP".

Ok so it doesn't have a cd/dvd drive but it is after all a netbook. Anyhow the programs are already installed and if you wish to install more stuff portable cd/dvd drives are pretty cheap.
I think its great. Very quick and the screen is big enough for use on your travels and it really is very lightweight and portable.
The touchpad works great and it has 3 usb sockets which should be plenty, headphone and mic sockets for your headset, 3 in 1 card reader (not sure that it reads XD cards but SD cards definately as well as MS and pro MMC cards), ethernet switch and a monitor socket. It is also bluetooth enabled and has a built in webcam.
I would recommend the XP version which also has twice the disk space as the Linux version and comes with 1GB af ram.
I've tried other netbooks, the mini 9 is my personal fav within its price range.

Already have a laptop but got fed up lugging it around the country so thought I would try the min. It is excellent, has everything including bluetooth and sits in my handbag! weighs a kilo. Am going to take it away with me. Can see keyboard might be a prob if you have big hands but is perfect for me and my small digits.

Have bought a dvd drive to go with it so can use it for movies as well a email. Can connect to TV for largerscreen of course.
