I can tell you one thing: I remember when i heard about this movie, but what i remember the most is the weeks and months i was waiting for this movie. Quentin Tarantino, one of my favorite directors, was about to release a new movie. I had higher hopes for this one than i had for kill bill, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir dogs (obviously), and so on. I don't know why exactly, it just seemed right. And let me tell you, this movie delivers! The snappy Tarantino-dialogs, the characters attitudes, and the environment in the movie was superb. But, as in always every movie you watch, it tends to be a little slow, but in this case it don't matter. Prepare for and adrenaline-rush!

  DEATH PROOF
Review created: 15/01/08

Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof is a white-knuckle ride behind the wheel of a psycho serial killer's roving, revving, racing death machine. Stuntman Mike's supped up, death proof muscle car is the only weapon he needs to prey on the unsuspecting objects of his affection in this down and dirty all out action flick.

Featuring some of the most exciting and brutal car chase sequences ever filmed – all without any CGI, Death proof is 100% pure Tarantino.

This was a bit of a let down for me i'm afraid-it is a very slow to start movie with best part being the last 30 minutes.Death proof is the 2nd of 2 films of the grindhouse genre,The first being planet terror. The latter of which i'm still waiting to arrive after buying it on here lol!But by the looks of it planet terror is the better of the 2 movies.I'll let you know later when i review that.Death Proof is,at heart, a movie about sexy ladies and the scar-marked aging ex-stuntman who wants them all dead.If your a Tarintino fan you'll want to check this out regardless of what i say!But personally i'm looking forward to planet terror.Oh one more thing i must add is the fact i love the way this movie was filmed and put together, absolutely ingenious Tarintino! Is a shame the plot didn't really grab us by the nuts as well.

Tarantino does it again, you can't work out where it is going for the first half of the movie then in true Tarantino style it completely turns on its head. Starting with the most erotic fully clothed lap dance you have ever seen then the sickest action scenes this is a truly brilliant movie with a stunning soundtrack to match. The aged effect gives this movie that 70's grind house feel and all the little things that link Tarantino movies are there. If you love his movies this wont disappoint, watch it now.

I was quite excited about this feature and looking forward to the usual action/stylish origional movie making that we expect from this master director. And I was not disapointed at all !! The stunt scenes with the cars are amazing. The dialoge does go on a bit to long, but it is a Tarantino movie after all. Excellent DVD for anyones collection, and the extras are worth a watch too.

A must see for car chase fans
Review created: 19/04/09

From the outset it is obvious straight away that this is a Quentin Tarantino film. Sometimes you wonder if he adds in the odd filming styles purely for the quirkiness sakes but it does come together well.

A big part of the film is introducing the characters, and is almost split up into two films within itself. Featuring throughout is Kurt Russell playing “Stuntman Mike” – an ex-stuntman with a fetish for scaring and killing people with his “Death Proof” cars. For me, the star attraction is the car chase at the end, which lasts a staggering 18 minutes. The filming keeps you directly in the action, but is character build-up and the unforgiving ending that sets it apart from other car chases.

If you like 60s and 70s American muscle thrown in with violence and the occasional splatter of gore then you will have your jaws open on many occasions. Likewise if you a fond of the female booty you won’t be disappointed as the producing seems almost obsessive with it’s concentration on it. If you don’t like cars and action, forget it, this film is not for you.

This is Tarantino at his most anally retentive.
A lot of women talking and talking interspersed with some good action.
Unless there is something I have missed the point of?

What is point?

typical tarantino movie style probably lacks the twists of pulp fiction but makes up for it with the gruesome crashes but felt it lacked action till the very end car chase which is very entertaining at that point i didnt want the movie to end worth a watch but dont build your hopes up

Tarantino at his best....Great music to accompany the action.
On the down side...there is probably a bit much chit chat between the cast inbetween the action... But a must see for Tarantino fans.

  Tarantino Rules
Review created: 18/05/09

The car race is amazing. Tarantino is a living legend. Great cast. Great story. I love the bit at the end where the girl puts her foot through the guys head!!!

I loved the fact that there was no CGI. Every thing you say was real and I loved that one of the cast was actually a stunt woman so, it is really her riding on the bonnet of the car.

This film rocks. The best real car race I've seen in a long time.

Great film, if you like violence in a film, and great car chases
Kurt Russell is mean and moody and plays a great "baddie"
Sometimes the girls talk too much and you want to yell "just get on with the action", but is a really good film
Fantastic ending (including the April March track)

Death Proof - another winner from Mr T
Review created: 23/01/09
by:

A lot of people were expecting another Pulp Fiction when Jackie Brown came out, and were not really happy. Jackie Brown in it's own right is a great film, if your a true fan of Quentin you will appreciate Death proof in it's own right, for what it is, for what he wanted to do, it's all there, expect Pulp fiction and you won't like it, go in with your eyes open and you will enjoy it. I'm a graphic designer, love movies/cinematography and this film shows brilliance in dialogue and scenes, Mr T likes to do something different every time, and Death proof is another winner in his collection. Buy it, enjoy it, watch it again, look for those sublime subtle details that make this a great movie.

  Deathproof - Tarrantino
Review created: 05/01/09
by:

I bought this dvd because I absolutely adore Tarrantino, his style, his originality and have loved everything he has done, particularly Pulp Fiction. However, if I am honest I was disappointed with Deathproof. I felt the plot was poor, it was excessively gory, even for Tarantino and the characters weak. It didn't even follow the back to front format that is so Tarrantino, it was just ordinary and a bit nasty in places. (Very nasty in some places). Sorry Guys, I was disappointed.

  death proof dvd
Review created: 07/10/08

I really LOVE everything about this film. Its a proper girls girl film. What i appreciate about it mostly is that Quentin Tarrantino highlights the issues of society in which we are placed in, being that women are treated like simple creatures which can be easily manipulated and more importantly are easy targets, and men are sexual predators.

But those roles can easily be reserved simply because these are just steriotypes. Curt Russels character is a simple steriotype of a typical macho-female sex predator who butchers women for sport but he doesnt expect that women CAN infact have the initiative to fight back (even without some flash death proof car) and HE GETS OWNED.

ITS A HILARIOUS film, and i recommend watching it. I watched it at my friends house and i just wanted a copy so badly. I already own Plannet terror released jointly with this film and both are extremely clever with excellent dialogue.

Their worth buying, and are worth every penny.

  Death Proof (DVD)
Review created: 06/09/08

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

  Classic Tarantino!!!
Review created: 22/06/08
by:

I absolutely loved this film! It is SO stylish in every way and yet violent and nasty at the same time.
It is made to pay homage to the cult 'grind house' B-movies of the 70's - which it does very well.
I loved the 70's style of the film; clothes, hairstyles etc but at the same time being set now; mobile phones, technology.
The first half of the film concentrates on a group of girls on a night out - the second half features one of the best car chases ever!!!
LOVED IT!!!
If you love Tarantino, gory horrors and cult movies GET THIS MOVIE!!!
