Dead Man's Shoes (DVD 2005)

This is one of my favourite films of all time and highly recommend it.
It is successful of many levels but most notably because of the numerous superb acting performances from the British cast which make for a frightening realism to the story.
It may not be to all tastes because of a moderate level of violence but this is not excessive and is necessary given the subject matter.
In my opinion Shane Meadows (director) and Paddy Considines (lead actor)greatest triumph to date.

This is without doubt a modern classic. A revenge movie with a twist echoing classic revenge movies such as 'Hang em High', 'Get Carter' and 'Death Wish'. Paddy Considine's performance is staggeringly chilling and totally believable as an ex services hard man, with psychopathic tendencies. One to own.

Superb acting Highly recommended story of ultimate vengeance. The acting from Paddy Considine is outstanding.

This is probably one of the best British films EVER! It is fecking superb!! Don't believe the adverts- It's nowt like a slasher film of 'First Blood', for that matter. It is full of 'Taxi Driver' references, though, which is one reason why I like it so much.
If you don't like this film there is summat wrong with you. End of........
Remember, "god will forgive them. He will forgive them and allow them into heavan. I can't live with that..........."

If you liked This Is England (by Shane Meadows) then you'll love this even more
cause i did't even like this is england....a couple of my mates watched this and recommended that i buy it, even one of them watched it six days in a row. Paddy Considine has now officially become my favorite actor due to this film it is such a powerful performance...........ENJOY!

This is an absolute classic! The film lacks no realism and the actors all portray their character to a tea. A real credit to Shane Meadows.

One to watch again and again. If only there were more real vigilantes to deal with scum like this we would live in a much healthier country.

Another masterpiece from Shane Meadows. This is British film making at it's very best. Great performances from the cast, with special mention to Toby Kebbell for his portrayal of troubled younger brother Anthony. Also worth a mention is a great performance from Stuart Wolfenden (ex Coronation Street Mechanic) whose ad-libbed one-liners have you laughing out loud.

Great Film, & british too, Its cleverly loaded with a few scenes of humour that make fun of the gang of drug dealing scum that had my sides hurting with laughter; especially the part where the one gang member frantically returns to his mates saying he's just seen an elephant, & the face painting revenges was also funny.

Watching this film a second time, i had to fast forward the scenes of cruelty & bullying violence to "Anthony" who is mildly mentally retarded, as unfortunately this sort of thing goes on in real life, the "extra's" in the DVD that give documetary interview with the main actor & director are very well explained of the hard hitting reality the film portrays, its a rather sad ending to the film, & it highlights some of the real "out of control" feelings of anger people have when something as callous as this happens to them or someone close to them.
Those guys got what they deserved, & if i were in the greiving mans shoes, would feel the same as him, as the justice system can offer no equal punishment to the loss you can never comprehend to the selfish acts of others.
Great film, well made with a well meant message to touch the concience of certain people of todays society.

A truly gripping film of family loyalty, anguish , regrets and with an edge of your seat plot, this is Paddy at his best.

Very gripping film. Its very violent but not explicit. It is based on true events and could happen anywhere to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAVE SEEN THE FILM A COUPLE OF TIMES AND REALLY ENJOYED IT. yES THERE ARE SOME GRAFFIC SCENES BUT AS THE ELDER BROTHER GOES ON HIS RAMPAGE OF REVENGE YOU DO NOT SEE HIM AS THE AGGRESSOR AND REVEL IN THE BAD GUYS GETTING THEIR JUST REWARDS. A LOW BUDGET FILM THAT IS EXTREMELY WELL MADE AND ALSO BECAUSE I KNOW SOME OF THE PLACES WHERE IT WAS SHOT IT MADE IT MORE INTERESTING.THIS IS DEFINITELY A FILM TO WATCH AND THAT WAS MY REASON FOR PURCHASING IT.

fantastic acting in a harse intense heart aching and violent tale of revenge that makes you want to cry, laugh and shout all at the same time! probably the best film of at least the ten years!! BUY IT!

if you want to see something different from this over rated american crap this british film from shane meadows is a real treat
paddy considine is absolutely brilliant in this be good to see him in more films
trust me just watch it!

had seen it reviewed on this is england a nd decided to buy it, not quite what i expected, bit like a watered down version of trainspotting but it had some good scary moments, may watch it again , bit of a twist to the tale towards the end and also an alternative ending, not qiute my taste but like i say would view again

When all about us are raving about Hollywood blockbusters and multi million pound takings in a film's first week at the cinema, "Dead Man's Shoes" somehow slipped through the net. I saw this film 2 months ago and from start to finish, I was gripped by it's humour, it's sadness but most of all Paddy Considine's superb acting. Surely a true British classic? Hollywood, move over please...the British have arrived. Ignore this movie at your peril

A must see film, i had never heard of it untill 3 weeks ago, decided to buy it and thought it was fantastic. Cant believe this film is not better known.
