Rob Cohen directs and Sylvester Stallone stars in his urban underwater disaster drama with big bang special effects by Industrial Light & Magic.

An accidental explosion rips through a jammed commuter tunnel beneath the Hudson River between Manhattan and New Jersey, sealing off both ends and trapping a diverse band of survivors inside. A disgraced former emergency medical services chief (Stallone) manages to reach them and struggles through fire, noxious, gases, explosions, collapsing walls, massive flooding and rats to lead them to daylight.

I bought this to replace my dvd that went missing as this is one to keep in your dvd collection. If you haven't seen this before then Fasten your seatbelts and brace yourself for an non-stop thrill ride that will have you holding your breath from start to finish.

"Daylight" is one of the most intense movies I have seen in a long time. Trucks loaded with toxic waste. A stolen car being pursued by the police. Separate events that come together in a New York city tunnel when the latter crashes into the former starting a chain reaction explosion that sends a fireball sweeping through the tunnel and sealing it at both ends. A handful of survivors are left trapped with burning toxic waste and only enough air to last a few hours Sylvester Stallone gives one of his best performances in "Daylight" leading a group of civilians survivers to saftey.

I like this film because although it is a disaster movie, it still turns out ok. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

  Good!!!!

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes

  Daylight - a good film
Review created: 29/01/08

Daylight, a brilliant masterpiece. I was astounded at this film, the screenplay was so marvelous, and tight, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I have never seen such a screenplay. One hour and 30 minutes under one tunnel, with thirteen people, decreasing, and one dog. I never was bored. Sylvester Stallone has convinced me that his films are just fantastic. The writer Leslie Bohem did a wonderful job, Sly Stallone, Amy Brenneman, Colin Fox, all were very good. Though Viggo Mortensen didn't had much to do, but he was good. A spectacular film.

A group of commuters are stranded in a tunnel 72 feet beneath the Hudson River. Stallone races against time as the survivors are faced with the collapse of the tunnel. Their only hope lies with former Medical Services chief, Kit Latura.

I give it 9 out of 10. A perfect film. It's a pity that film like these do not get the fame they deserve. The people who don't like it, maybe they are not into thrillers, but for me, I don't want a big budget, star cast, true story, with a boring screenplay and unnecessary scenes, I'd rather watch this film again and again. A fabulous film.

This arrived in good condition and is an excellent film. I bought it because I had a copy on video and the video player broke so thought I would replace it with a DVD version.
