  great flim
Review created: 16/07/06
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

this flim is great, rght up until the end. the effects are amazing and the plot is clever. this flim does have you sitting on the edge of your seat. im not sure about you, but the ending was a bit poor, its a happy ending which doesnt really fit with the tone of the flim, its a shame really, i just turn it off 5 minutes before the end to avoid disppointment. but the rest of the flim is mind blowing...

The extras on the 2 disk are mostly good - the making of etc. A few of the interviews are a bit dull, but the rest are good.

  Global warming?
Review created: 09/02/09

A great movie but this global warming stuff is being overdone and this film sadly demonstrates the paranoia which exists around the subject. It seems that the whole world is going bonkers over Global Warming. This despite the fact that many Eastern scientists (notably in Russia and China) ae actually predicting a mini Ice-age over the next 10-20 years! They are actually buying up arable land in tropical regions since they believe that most of the land in the higher latitudes will actually become unusable in the decades ahead.

Yes -the movie is great and the special effects are superb - but people need to keep their feet on the ground concerning global warming. Call me cynical but whilst I am all in favour of saving global resources, stating unequivocally that global warming is real and caused by man borders on the laughable.

That all said - a great movie and one well worth watching

I personally love movies that Jake stars in(with the exception of brokeback mountain)

Donnie Darko was amazing, Jarhead was brilliant...and this movie is fantastic, the effects that take place in the movie are outstanding, especially the helicoptor scene, superb.

Climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) predicts significant atmospheric changes for the planet unless more is done to prevent the erosion of the ozone layer. While his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) is in New York for a competition, Mother Nature finally has enough and lets loose some previously impossible disasters. Now stuck in the New York Public Library, Sam must fight to survive the coming cold while his father makes a desperate rescue attempt.

9/10

  A Thought Provoking Distaster Movie!
Review created: 05/01/09

The message in this film is clear, we all need to take global warning seriously or else...and I do love a good disaster movie, this film certainly doesn't disapoint.

Some of it I watch and thought 'wow, this could really happen'! Some I watch and just thought it was silly (such as the huge ship which managed to sail up Manhatten streets so gracefully).

The affects were faultless and breath taking.

I just am getting a bit bored with these films in which America is the only place on Earth (although I know Scotland was featured a little). And things always climax in New York...I'm waiting for a good distaster flick set in the UK.

VERY GOOD FILM, good for geography students!
Review created: 18/12/08

This film is very interesting, full of action, good acting, good special effects also. I liked so much as I'm studying climate chnage as part of A Level Geography and it was interesting to see this science fiction about how the gulf stream may stop for example. It is very dramatized, but a good watch for fmailies or teenagers, or any interested in it really. A ver good film!

i really enjoyed this film as it has lots of action and an unexpected ending. i found that it was exciting and i think that it is a great film to watch on your own or as a family. compared to other films about the future i think that this is one of the best as it goes into detail out what could happen and the signs.i loved the ending as it has a bit of a twist. i decided to buy this film as i had watched it in school and i thought that it was really good to watch .

  The Day After Tomorrow DVD
Review created: 02/01/08
by:

This is a very enjoyable film about global warming, and a dramatic snowstorm that affects the world. It shows sudden and dramaic changes in the world climate, and how this may affect everyone worldwide. A world renowned weather and climatologist consults with the US government - they reject his findings as he predicts another Ice Age. Only when it's too late to take serious action do they decide to take him seriously. His son is on a college trip in one of the worst affected areas in the US and in the last phonecall he gets from his son, he vows to save him, and rescue him. He makes an epic trek across the US to save his son.
Definitely worth watching. I had to buy a new DVD because we wore out the VHS we had because it watch it so often.

  How cold can it get?
Review created: 06/09/07

It started off as a typical day, then the weather turned, from bad to worst... It portraits how no matter what, the father will not break his promise to meet his son, even in horrendous weather, which is an understatement! To survive with his best ability, the son managed to save a few other people, even when it was dangerous for any of them to go out in the cold that soon turned into the weather from hell...

  new york!
Review created: 09/08/07

its set in new york so already it had my attention!then you get into the story and for a moment of sheer madness you actually imagine yourself in that situatin and what would you really do?could you really survive this?im sure that the moment may allow you to do this but then surely pure fear would get in the way?either way you have to own this as one of those "what if" films that you always think of!

  Boys' own with ice!
Review created: 07/04/07

Actually I bought this for my 8 year old son who loves it - especially all the special effects - the story is so flawed it's hard to know where to start but the underlying messages about what could happen in extreme climate change conditions are interesting. It looks stunning and Mr Quaid and company make valiant efforts with a mediocre script. Great for boys - with moderate scariness! has been viewed many times since purchase.

The replacement for the day after tomorrow
Review created: 08/03/07

After my original copy of 'The day After Tomorrow' got scratched, it was impossible to play it again. I didn't want to pay full price for a brand new copy, so I checked ebay mand found what I was looking for. This copy happened to be a double disc compared to my first copy, which only had one. I found the seller to be very helpful and the item arrived in good time.

The DVD would not run with any of the decoders currently installed on my system, even though I use my computer all the time to watch DVD's. After downloading another decoder I managed to get the DVD to run but the 'Titles' were very messed up. I enjoyed the movie, but am now unable to get it to play again. I can't continue downloading new decoders or I will have no space left on my hard drive. So- Enjoyable movie-unfortunately is now defunked as I can no longer get it to run.

A Hell of a Weather Report
Review created: 19/07/06
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

It’s one of those apocalyptic movies where half the globe population is wiped out by dramatic climatic calamities, and the other half struggles to survive. So you’ll get what you expect: it’s spectacular and sensational, but that’s about it.

Apart from Dennis Quaid and Ian Holm the cast is a bit cheap, the directing is not a masterpiece, and it’s a bit soapy on the edges. But there’s enough action to make up and the camera keeps you in at all times. Moreover, there’s quite a lot of blasting views you won’t see anywhere else (Manhattan under the ice, or LA swept up by a colony of typhoons for instance).

So if you’re looking for a journey through a hurricane, there’s your film.
