Western contemporary music dressed in eastern clothing

This is a record that I bought because I have some albums made by these artists with other musicians and under different projects already, and find their music interesting. Robert Fripp has also contributed to Sylvians solo albums during the 80ties. On this record they go into a music landscape inspired maybe a little by Tibetian or Indian music culture, but also by contemporary western music like 'My life in the Bush of Ghosts' Eno/Byrne from early 80ties. There is 3 tracks on this CD but all of them spin around the same beat and theme. Track number two is made of the same theme, but reconstructed by 'The future sound of London' which means a little more electronica/techno variant. At David Sylvians record 'Gone to Earth' from 1986 where Fripp is a contributer, the last part of it is made of soundscapes and musical aquarels. Compared to this record Darshan is more rhythm based and not so ethereal. Darshan can easily be regarded as an interresting record for dance practitioners, but then mostly by those who are more academic or professional in this field.
I would also compare this record with Banco de Gaias 'Last train to Lhasa' from 1995. Darshan is from 1993 so I feel that Banco de Gaia has been listening to Sylvian/Fripps record.
I gave it only average score because personally I am a little more interrested in ethereal music than rhythm based when we're talking about this particular genre. And I expected a little more variation and shifts/new musical themes. This record is a bit too repetitive. On the pro side I would say that it got pulse and some beutiful soundscapes that could bring you to a different exotic world of music, if you add some of your own fantasy to it, that is.
