David Gray - A New Day At Midnight (CD 2002)

If you are reading this you are probably a David Gray fan, I have only owned his other album White Ladder which I liked very much. In A New Day At Midnight the music and quality of the lyrics are good but not as good as in White Ladder. I am not a professional reviewer or music critic, I understand this was a previously released album. The album is thoroughly enjoyable albeit it lacks the punch and the quality of White Ladder, the music on first two tracks is undeniably influenced by the early 90's era of dance music. While the lyrics are the usual Gray's style the beats on the background resemble some of the dance tracks of the era.

However, the album gets better and better as it progresses through the tracks with the grand finale track "Meet You on Other Side" which is loaded with the mellow yet intense powerful intensity which much as with his next offering White Ladder.

In my opinion, although not as good as his next still a very enjoyable album

A great album by David Gray, similar in style to White Ladder [2000]. The vocal style is similar to his previous albums.

This CD was an entirely speculative purchase. I had never heard of David Gray before. The artwork is attractive and tasteful, so for just over £2.00 inc. P&P I thought it worth a try. Alas this CD will be going in my charity shop box. The music is inoffensive enough but it sounds all the same throughout. David Gray has a pleasant enough voice, and sings in a style rather like Bob Dylan, smoother and a bit more tuneful but, very UNlike Dylan, there is nothing memorable about any of Gray's songs. Yes, as others have intimated it's musical wallpaper for your car!

The earnest quality of David Gray presses on, but on this occasion with a mostly calm dose of reflective style. This album is consistantly good, and so the trend continues; remember White Ladder, and recently Life in Slow Motion!

I'm avoiding highlighting certain tracks in this instance, as whether driving or at home, the mood throughout this album is positively unchanging, and therefore I do not feel the need to skip tracks.

If you are a fan of David Gray and seek some chill-out, then this album at least should aid some comfort.

i absolutely love this C.D because it's relaxing and the lyrics are so gentle. I bought this because it was the only one of David Gray's albums that I needed

I really like what David writes, saw him live last year and he was great.His songs are definitely different and his music fits in anywhere,I find it uplifting and also good for relaxing too. Davids voice is really quite unique and I would recommend him to anyone.
