ON AN ISLAND - DAVID GILMOUR

I am a Pink Floyd fan, and love David Gilmour's guitar work on their albums and their gigs. So, when the new solo album came out I was keen to read any reviews that were around. These were generally good but no one seemed to be raving about it. For that reason, I decided not to buy it new, but wait and obtain it on ebay for less money, in case, (and I really hoped not),it turned out to be a turkey. As it transpires, and only on a single listening so far, I have to say that it does, overall, disappoint. The person I bought it from said he was selling it because 'it wasn't for him', and I can see why. For the most part I would call it 'wishy-washy', with what used to be called in my day,'hippy gumbo'lyrics from his wife, and uninspired dreamy arrangements. Only goodish, not great. Shame. I think, like many artists who go solo, he's missing the restraint and influence of his old fellow band members. REFORM THE FLOYD !
