Androgenous Glam Alien Being - Classic Bowie!

This was the first Bowie album I ever bought, back in the days of vinyl, it was possibly one of his most famous, and with tracks like Five Years, Moonage Daydream, Starman, Soul Love, Ziggy Stardust & Suffragette City, it was impossible not to get entirely hooked on Bowie, and of course Ziggy.

I then made it my mission to collect everything Bowie had ever done before this album, and since. At the time I figured I might not have much to collect, given his tendency to retire, but the frequency of these retirements, and subsequent comebacks, has ensured a steady stream of additions to the collection.

This album is best appreciated when listened to with young ears. ;-)

Interesting Lyrics. Good singing. Good production. Quite original. Fun to listen to. Heavily influenced (in places) by the song "A Day in the Life" by The Beatles.

  Possibly the greatest Bowie album...

Ziggy Starrdust is regarded as great Bowie album and considered his best. I personally feel there are some very good tracks, such as Five Years, Hang On to Yourself and Rock 'n' Roll Suicide. It is a fantastic album, but I do prefer Heroes instead, and I'm sure many people will disagree with that. Without doubt this is an album which any bowie fan will own.

I had this album on cassette and wanted the Remastered C.D. Version. This along with Aladdin Sane are my favourite Bowie albums. Quite simply a masterpiece. Every track is brilliant.Bowie at his brilliant best. Hard to think this album originally came out way back in 1972.

Thought it would be as good as Life on Mars. Unfortunately it is not. A poor imitation but may interest a dedicated Bowie fan.

  A Disappointment

Nostalgia was my principal reason for purchasing this album. With a couple of exceptions I knew none of the tracks on the CD, but I had fond memories of Bowie's 'Top of the Pops' performances dating back to the early 1970s. To be honest, after playing the CD I was very disappointed; most of the material is mediocre at best.
If you are a Bowie fanatic you will probably still want to own this album, but if like me your knowledge of his 'Ziggy Stardust' period is scant, don't buy it expecting to discover hidden gems. With the exception of 'Starman', most of the tracks are instantly forgettable.
