THIS FILM IS AN EPIC. IT IS SET ON BOARD A SUB, UBOAT-96, DAS BOOT PRODUCES THE TENSION AND CLAUSTROPHOBIC SENSED WHEN STALKING ITS TARGET AND WHEN HUNTED ITSELF THE STEALTH REQUIRED TO AVOID DETECTION.
IT IS FILMED FROM A GERMAN PERSPECTIVE THE DIALOGUE IS IN GERMAN WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES (THE BEST WAY TO WATCH IT) AND DOES INCLUDE A ENGLISH LANGUAGE VERSION.
THE KRIEGSMARINE IN WORLD WAR 2 (THE SUBMARINERS) WHO FOUGHT A LONELY AND OFTEN FAR AWAY WAR THIS IS A TRIBUTE TO THEIR SKILL AND HUNTING IN PACKS THAT CAUSED SO MANY ALLIED LOSSES IN TERMS OF HUMAN LOSS AND VITAL TONNAGE BETWEEN US AND UK DESTINATIONS.
THIS FILM IS OVER 3 HOURS LONG (200 MINS) AND IS BEST WATCHED WITH NO LIGHTS AND CURTAINS DRAWN TO MAXIMISE THE FEELING OF BEING AMONGST THE CREW OF THE SUB.

The "Das Boot" DVD (2003 release) definately belongs in the film library of a historian or militaria collector. This is THE submarine film to see! Interesting WWII action movie about German sub (U-Boot) warfare, based on facts and also available as a book. Accuracy is ALL in this film. For the specialists: note that 2 versions were produced - 1 in English and 1 in German. Not recommended as a date movie and probably only older children (teens?) should watch this. This review is for the film only - it does not reflect on the seller who is completely unknown at the time of writing.

Good product but not sure the superbit adds any noticeably better resolution.
The film is great if you can stand subtitles or alternatively deal with the marginally inaccurate lip sync.

OUTSTANDING WAR FILM, HAD ME GRIPPED FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END..I WOULD PUT THIS FILM IN MY TOP 10 WAR FILMS OF ALL TIME !!! I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR THE 8 HOUR VERSION BUT, THIS THE EDITORS CUT WILL DO VERY WELL FOR NOW..BUY NOW AND ENJOY!!!!!!

das bootget this dvd i can say you will want to watch it over and over. it wiill grip you, you can also place yourself next to them and experience the fear of a close team
