  What a band

Just when you all thought we were doomed to listening to bland pop album after bland album and despite been told there sound would never catch on here they are, and what a sound they make, your gonna either love or hate it at the end of the day but i would much rather have a band like these in the charts than some of the other stuff we are fed.

Recommended for anybody who likes rock type music or anyone just looking a new cd because with its loveable riffs and catchy lyrics you cant help but like it.

The darkness Permission to land review. - jamieday83

With this CD I couldn't help but fall for such standout tracks as "Get Your Hands off My Woman" and the single "I Believe in a Thing Called Love." By blending hard-hitting guitar riffs with Hawkins' astonishingly strong, multi-octave voice on these tracks, the Darkness morphs into a heavy metal-pop hybrid that works both in both small bars and big arenas.

And although I could spend hours dissecting the much-played "I Believe ... " video and questioning the spandex-clad quartet's intentions, I would end up missing the actual song, with its overwhelmingly catchy guitar hook and irresistible backing vocals during the chorus. Where's the thrill in that?

This CD when played makes me want to smile and remember things from the time when it was released. After seeing the video to "I believe in a thing called love" I knew I had to buy this. If you like rock, My chemical romance, Keane, Greenday etc give this a try even if its just to hear Justin's girly song voice :)

The Darkness - Permission To Land (CD 2004)

Great debut album from a band that does not take itself to seriously. The songs are as catchy as hell and it is an album for those who like a mixture of AC/DC and Queen with maybe a touch of Def Leppard thrown in.Standout tracks for me are 'Growing On Me','I Believe In A Thing Called Love','Giving Up','Friday Night' and 'Holding My Own'.They may not be 'cool',but who cares when the music is this much fun.

Brilliant use of music and lyrics with ever changing style. What fun to listen to! I have heard a few of their tracks so thought a whole album should be a good thing to have. I was not disappointed!

Sorry this CD is not for me at all its samey and screechy. The songs are uneventfull and unchallenging it just sounds like a Bee Gees gone horribly wrong. Of course that's just my opinion and if you're a Darkness fan then you may well enjoy it. There are plenty of other reviews on eBay for this album so don't just take my word for it!

#this is hard to knock as it was an absolute bargain, however i did feel it started to run out of steam half way through and the many cliches started to become tiring.
At the end of the day it's still worth a listen

This is what rock n roll is all about!
Review created: 08/04/08

Permission to Land is one of my favourite albums in my collection and was the debut album from The Darkness of Lowestoft, UK.

The record might be short but what it lacks in quantity it makes up with quality on a grand scale. This album reminds me of what rock and roll is all about and just how much fun music can be.

While Justin's voice may not be to everyone's liking his vocals, at times, are breathtaking (listen to the vibrato in his voice at the end of Love on the Rocks) which complement the fantastic guitar work done on every track. You've got great hooks, great AC/DC-style riffs, big choruses, great guitar solos and very Thin Lizzy-style guitar harmonies.

In short a fantastic album and a great addition to the collection of anyone interested in good music.

The Darkness- Permission to Land (PA) (CD 2004)
Review created: 05/04/08

I just love Darkness and their tongue in their cheek attitude. Their records are fun and easy to listen too. You probably have to be a Darkness fan to enjoy it, as they aren't to everybody's taste. But if you would like to try something different then give this ago!

the darkeness permission to land cd
Review created: 03/02/08

this is the only album ever where i have listened to each and every track and there is one one out there (not even the drival that gets churned out 2 day)
that can keep my interest long enough and who actually sound the same live!!

growing on me is in my opinion the best track on there just for the sheer innoscence of the track, its even outweighs its more popular and more reconised "i believe in a thing called love",

love the guitar solos, drums and the tongue in cheek lyrics and of this album.

its well worth a listen u wont be disappointed!!
this is my second c.d as i worn the first one out!!!!

The Darkness Permission to Land Signed CD Review
Review created: 06/06/07

I'm relatively new to Ebay though I have racked up rather a lot of sales and if I'm honest an addiction to the Ebay way of life. This particular Item was bought as a birthday present for a friend of mine. I found the service to be excellant and the recipient was thrilled with the purchase too. The Delivery was nice and quick. Communication excellent and very good value for money.
