Rewarded for his heroism in the Civil War, Lt. John Dunbar (Costner), wants to see the American Frontier before it is gone. He is assigned to an abandoned fort where a Sioux tribe is his only neighbor. Overcoming the language barrier and their mutual fear and distrust, Dunbar and the proud Indians gradually become friends. Eventually, he falls in love with the beautiful Stands With A Fist (McDonnell), a white woman raised by the tribe. He learns the culture of the Sioux, lives with them, and even experiences the breathtaking excitement of a buffalo hunt, but his knowledge of the fate that will ultimately befall the tribe torments him. Finally, he is faced with a crucial decision that will cause him to examine his heart and soul before making a heroic choice that determines his destiny.

Dances With Wolves - a must have!

I first saw this film at cinema and to be honest thought it was too long. Then my husband expressed a desire to see it. Couldn't find it in shops or in local video store. Was really pleased when I found it on line. We watched it together this time and i had forgotten what an excellent story it was. The beauty of having your own copy is you can pause to make coffee etc.

The DVD was not an "Original" as was conveyed by the Seller, but it was a used Copy Make and when I honestly placed a Neutral Feedback, I received an abusive email which has been forwarded to eBay Customer Service. I would not have bid such a high price if actual condition was made known on eBay. Honesty is a rare poicy that I hope does not dissuade others except to Ceveat Emptor!

It is very long, but I have watched it again, and again, and I never notice.

) I love films, and have spent last few years trying to get my video collection on dvd. I have been trying un sucessfully to get this dvd in the shops for the past few years. I am new to ebay, and was delighted to find it here. This film was good on video, but it is amazing on dvd. The picture quality is sharper, and in widescrren, you miss none of the battles, or beautiful settings. It really takes you to western frontier. The surruond sound adds to the experience, of having arrows fly past you. The film is very emotional, and draggs you into the story, and really makes you care, about the characters. A fantastic job by director ,writer and cast.
This is a brilliant film, it is a shame about all the extras, as they do not cover the aspects behind the scenes you want to see. Why sit through the cinema trailer when you have just watched the film.
A must see film!

This was one of the most enjoyable dvds that I have watched in a lond time.The unusual content made it unpredictable.A very good watch and you get so involved you forget how long it is and at the end you dont want it to end.I bought it because it was my late husbands favourite film.

Dances with wolves Kevin CostnerI have a copy of this on vhs....after many years of use my video player has finally busted, so i decided to buy a copy of Dances With Wolves on DVD. I think it is one of my all times fave movies! It really takes you back into the old western days....i got lost in the film. Nothing left to say but....what an awesome film! If you get the chance watch it you never know....you might like it!

BUT THE FILM ALSO SHOWS HOW WE CAN ALL LIVE TOGETHER IN RELATIVE PEACE AND HARMONY. SUPERB ACTORS AND ACTRESSES FRONTED BY KEVIN COSTNER AND HIS DELICATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WOLF. WHY WE DIDN'T BUY THIS FILM BEFORE NOW IS BEYOND ME. EXCELLENT !!!!

It an excellent film like everything about will watch it many times. I just like Kevin Costner's films. Everyone loves a romantic film it has action and is also sad in places and true re history. I am adding to my collection replacing videos with DVD. Its just a great great film.

DANCES WITH WOL;VESFor americans this is essential viewing and in many places a reminder of the magnificence of different parts of the country. Well researched book on whuich film was based. Good cast all round. Deservedly won 7 oscars. For foreigners it may or may not have appeal.

I bought this film because I had to write an essay on westerns and this film was used in a book I read, it looked interresting and caught my attention. I also saw it in a DVD store a couple of days before and on the DVD case it had good reviews about it. So I decided to buy it and see what it was like. I decided to buy it on eBay because it is quicker, easier and cheaper then going down to the shop and getting it, also it might of gone by then. I love this film and I really enjoyed watching it, it gave a whole different perspective on the western life. I loved the whole story, but i was quite worried about the amount of dead and dying animals in it and I admit I was quite worried about if they killed real animals making that film. All in all though it is an amazing film, it really captures your heart and makes you realise how cruel and mean the white americans were in those days.
