The Dam Busters (DVD)

Entertaining yet very informative film about an invention that changed the course of the war, young ones found it very interesting and the not so young enjoyed seeing a film they had not seen for many years. In black and white but very atmospheric because of this, when the bombs were dropped, everyone watching was willing the bombs to hit the walls, think several of the older family members had a tear in their eye.

The music by Eric Coates is wonderful; ideal for the film and adds to the pleasure of watching it.

Wanted this DVD for a while and was afraid that it would not meet my expectations remembered from childhood but it did and went beyond that.

Highly recommended to both young, the not so young and those in the middle.

I got this for my little brother who is in the air cadets. he says its brilliant.

A fantastic film covering the bombing of the Ruhr dams, loved every minute of it. A 31 year old with an interest in the second world war and engineering, just shows what we could do back then while be bombed, the threat of invasion and with limited resources. Its questionable if we could do it today. Watched it last night and will watch it again tonight.

DVD picture quality excellent. Purchased to improve my library of war movies.
Can not think of anything negative to say about this item.

I enjoyed this film in the company of two teen-age American grandsons who found the English pronounciation of the 1950s quite difficult to follow,and at times quite hilarious.But they were really anxious to hear about Barnes Wallis,and awe-struck by what little old England achieved in the wake of men of genius and immense bravery!The film is a little dated,but a good example of what made Britain great!
