HOLY!!!!!!!.............Grail
Review created: 12/05/09(updated 12/05/09)

In the beginning there was "The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail" and Lo, Dan Brown did gaze upon this and saw that it was good, and he took these bare bones and made a skeleton, but this frame needed substance to flesh it out,so he took a rib from it's body and drew it across the face of the deep and created a commercial success unlike the original and placed it in the firmament that is the cinema. The Da Vinci Code is compelling and convincing and quite rightly so, as the source of the evidence is difficult to refute. The storyline undoubtedly is one of the best ever, in there being a bloodline from Christ to the present day, and the Churches strong desire to prevent this knowledge emerging into the light of day. Tom Hanks presents another of his facets in the form of Robert Langdon, and very convincingly, Alfred Molina sheds his four mechanical arms and dons a cassock to become a cardinal who is less than holy, and we must give thanks for the glorious union between Jesus and Mary Magdalene for ultimately producing Sophie Neveu, the cutest cryptologist in the department(played by Audrey Tatou),and Ian McKellen can always be relied upon for providing substance to the proceedings. In the film You are swiftly and eagerly propelled along through every twist and turn,so much so that you overlook the shortfalls and sheer fabrications of the plot until you arrive at a rather unconvincing conclusion,Having said this, if you ignore or don't care about the inaccuracies of the plot then this is a very good film and worth seeing for the gems of truth hidden within.Let us all pray for Ron Howard.Amen.
