classic johnny depp film about a teenage Drape gang who can sing dance and entertain but have a bad name as juvenile delinquents

What a great film! Very cheesy though, typical of the 1950's era it is set in, the 'squares' (the good kids) and the 'drapes' (the not-so-good kids) along with the brilliant soundtrack and costumes, anyone who loves the likes of 'grease' and 'dirty dancing' will love Cry Baby! Oh, and Johnny Depp is STUNNING as Cry Baby Walker with that sexy quiff!

cool acting and filled with stars you never thought you were around when they were that young! an all round great flick, perfect to watch with a partner

decided to buy as i hadnt seen since i was little, and was not disapointed had to buy 2 infact, one for me one for my cousin

wanted to see this film because love the rockabilly era . it was a comedy funny and entertaining.cameo role by johnney depp. very good nothing to dislike about it

watch this film when it first came out been after it for ages , great film jonny depp at his best, just as good as i remeber great for a girls night in or for anyone who loves the 50s muisc ,clothes etc

In the Baltimore of the 1950s, "Cry-Baby" Wade Walker is the leader of a gang of "drapes". One day after school, he is approached by Allison Vernon-Williams, a pretty girl tired of being a "square", and the two fall in love.

Despite Allison's grandmother being sceptical, Allison stays and sings with the drapes. Allison's jealous square boyfriend Baldwin starts a riot at the local drape hangout, Turkey Point. Cry-Baby is blamed for the fighting and sent to a penitentiary, outraging all his friends and even Allison's grandmother, who is impressed by Cry-Baby's posture, manners and musical talent.

As Lenora, a girl with a crush on Cry-Baby but constantly rejected by him, claims to be pregnant with his child, Allison feels betrayed and returns to Baldwin and the squares, though her grandmother advises against rushing into a decision. Eventually, she is persuaded by the newly-established alliance between the drapes and her grandmother to stand by Cry-Baby and join the campaign for his release. Cry-Baby is released but immediatedly insulted by Baldwin, who challenges him to a chicken race. Cry-Baby wins as Baldwin chickens out and is reunited with Allison.

To be honest we bought this solely because it was a Johnny Depp film. We have really enjoyed all of his other work and left this one to last as we were frankly dubious of its 'artistic' merits. We were really pleased that we bought it! It has a really funny plotline and the characters (although a wierd bunch) are engaging and fun to watch. If you are a Depp fan, or looking for an oddball comedy interlude...give this one a try!

This film has eveything; a love story, a rebel, comedy, musical numbers, a happy ending and lot's and lot's of HAM!I absolutely love this film, it's like a cross between A Rebel without a Cause, Grease and The Rocky Horror Show! If you've seen any of John Waters' films then you know what to expect, if you haven't this will be a real treat. It's a no brainer film, you don't need to work through a complex plot, you just need to sit down and enjoy.
There are some real laugh out loud moments and although the musical numbers aren't well known you do end up tapping your foot along too them and end up with a big grin at the end.
My husband is a convert after I made him watch this film and has recommended it to all his friends - praise indeed! He was very surprised by the film as he often classes the films I like as high brow, complex and weird! This is a really guilty indulgence film - in a good way. It's a real feel good movie that will leave you smiling along time after it finishes.
One last thing, if you're a Johny Depp fan you get lot's for your money here, as he sing, dances and looks great!

I bought this item as i love the film and really wanted it on DVD. Love a young Johnny Depp and i love the songs in it too!! :-) I think this is all round a great film!

my daughter has loved this film for sometime and we could not get hold of it anywhere, it is like a dream come true. she likes the film because it is like a drama film & musical in one and its good to think that all people in the end got on. its based on the year 1958 when this is the surrounding that young people were brought up in, clothes,schooling,

this did not seem to be a good quality dvd at all, it skipped and jumped and was defintly unwatachable. did not seem like a dvd you would pruchase from a shop, the cover also seem printed

I saw the cry baby Dvd and could not resist to buy it as it is an excellent
easy watching film.
Also it has Jonny Depp in it, one of my favourite actors.
It is a film i first saw as a young teenager and real enjoyed it. I have never
seen it to buy so when i saw it on ebay i had to get it.

i watched this when i was younger and i went to watch the new hairspray and 4 some reason that got me thinking of the old hairspray which stars ricky lake and cry baby also stars her too. its a bit silly now but when i was younger i loved it!!!!1 laughable

REALLY GOOD CHEESY MUSICAL STARRING A VERY YOUNG JOHNNY DEPP, GOT THIS DVD FOR MY GIRLFRIEND WHO IS OBSESSED WITH ANYTHING WITH JOHNNY DEPP IN, SHE LOVES THE FILM AND HAS EVEN GOT OUR DAUGHTER INTO IT, THE FILM IS ABOUT WADE WALKER( JOHNNY DEPP) WHO GOES TO A JUVENILE DETENTION CENTRE FOR BEING A DELINQUENT, HE FALLS IN LOVE WITH THE POSH GIRL FROM A GOOD FAMILY AND THEY FINALLY GET TOGETHER AFTER OVERCOMING LOTS OF OBSTACLES. SOME REALLY CATCHY TUNES AND SOME QUITE FUNNY PARTS.

i decided to purchase the cry baby dvd as it was one of my childhood films that i fell in love with, so i was thrilled to find it avaliable on dvd.
i love everything about the film, it met my expectations in every way.

One of off-beat director John Water's classics, Cry Baby is a welcome addition to any fan's DVD collection. Sadly, it's a fairly basic DVD package, with the film and limited extras, although the interview with John and his thoughts on his use of music legend Iggy Pop are well worth watching.

The film itself is the basic release but, hey - that's what I was looking for. As a cult film with a limited target audience I doubt there's much of a market there to encourage fancier box sets, but if you just want to enjoy a classic, with a young and on-top-form Johnny Depp, you don't need anything else. Great sound, cinematography and a stunning look into the class rivalry in 50's America, coupled with a great sense of humour and wacky story, give it a go.

For those who know John Waters I need say no more. For those who are wondering, he's well worth a watch. If you liked The Rocky Horror Picture Show, you'll like this!

The reason i bought this in the first place was because i used to watch it when i was younger and its a great film , but i had it on vhs andthe tape was getting old and unwatchable,.I dont dislike any thing about it and i thought it was a bargain.Great quick seller.
