Creative Technology Sound Blaster® Audigy® 2 Platinum EX

My review is based on the Creative Audigy 2 Platinum EX and i am very happy about this soundcard.

I have decided to buy this soundcard since i was wanting to replace my onboard soundcard and i have always understood that the creative brand of soundcards although expencive, sounds the best compared to other soundcards of today.

This soundcard has everything you need for a soundcard including the external breakout box for additional inputs and outputs which are not on the back of the card like optical and coaxial spdif ins and outs and also phono inputs and outputs, and also the breakout box features line in and microphone inputs to aid in recording, and also the card has midi input and outputs for musical devices like a guitar or keyboard.

Another thing to mention is that the breakout box has 2 extra firewire ports so you can connect your ipods or cameras to the breakout box and there is a remote control so you can sit back and control the volume and skip tracks etc.

The soundcard also features dolby digital decoding which when linked up with a xbox 360 and creative gigaworks speakers via optical digital cable, sounds amazing as all the sounds are detailed and clear to hear like in games where you can hear gunshots at the rear speakers when baddies are shooting you from behind.

The soundcard has 3 3.5mm jack outputs for your logitech and creative speakers to link into and they consist of front, rear and centre/subwoofer jacks and also there is a firewire and data port for linking up to the external breakout box.

Since the card has gold conectors on the back there is a real sense of quality of this product and the look and feel of the card is secound to none.

This soundcard just screams quality whether you are blasting out music from your pc or playing your favourite games, you get to hear the quality of the soundcard come to life.

This soundcard has replaced my onboard soundcard as i thought that was good wait till you hear this card in action, it blows my onboard sound card any day.

Yes this card has been out for a long time but still even today these audigy 2 cards from creative still sound excellent due to the quality components which are on the soundcard and you can clearly see that creative have not been penny pinching on this card unlike other 3rd party cards.

The software is very clean and easy to use and settng up all the calibration settings and the thx settings are a doddle to do but do bear in mind that you need to use a 4 pin molex power connector for the card to power the external breakput box.

Overall i would highly recommend this sound card if you can get a hold of one on ebay as still many years on since this soundcard came out, it still produces a very clear and excellent sound so listening to music on it sounds very good.
