Album Notes Radiohead's Japan-only B-sides compilation finally gets a limited UK release due to popular demand. Comprising most of the B-sides from the 'Hail To The Thief' singles, like that album it is split pretty much evenly between experimental electronic tracks and acoustic, organic songs. Also features live, alternative and remixed versions of tracks from the album. | |||||||||||
Reviews Review created: 05/05/07 by: Okay, I’ll come clean… My name is MacLizardking and I am a Radiohead-a-holic! There, I’ve owned up… come clean as it were. Being a massive fan of this (IMHO) the finest current musical collective on the planet, I was always going to buy this item. I scour e-bay for listings pertaining to the euphoric music of this band, so snapped this little gem up to further my voyage towards “completeism”… made up word, I know! While there is a bit of Thom’s “bleep & booster” era b-sides, let us not forget that this is the band who have given us AT LEAST a double vinyls worth of b-sides that on sheer melody and inventiveness alone put many so-called populist bands (Coldplay anyone...? Urgh…I even cringe at the phrase Radiohead-lite… it’s not even in the same solar system) official releases in to the shade! One must take the challenging with the smooth, and the delivery of both live and studio out-takes of some of the more epiphanistic (I know, another made up word, but you get the drift!) moments from their last, rather wonderful album “Hail To The Thief”, make this an automatic choice for any serious fan of The ‘Head. And to close, I should point out that your reviewer types these comments whilst both agog and practically moist with anticipation of the new release later this year! I was lucky enough to see this lot at the Hammersmith Odeon (it’ll always be the Odeon to me!) last year and you KNOW you’re on to a good thing when the comment “Here’s a new one” curls from the stage to be received with wrapt attention, as opposed to a shuffle to the bar… it kinda’ says it all.
