Cobra MT 525-2VP (8 Channels) Two Way Radio

I bought this little PMR radio after trying a friends that was fitted as part of a motorcycle ‘bike to bike’ intercom. I was very impressed with the good sound quality and the ease of use. The radio has all the main functions you would expect and the newer versions now come with longer lasting NiMi batteries and drop in charger. Expect about 8 hours use from one charge and it takes about three hours to re do the batteries. The range is limited as with all PMR equipment, expect about ½ a mile with up to 1mile in the open. In built up areas the range can be as low as 500 meters. The radio handles very well and if put in a pocket it is not too heavy. The only bad thing I have found is the poor compatibility with some other high end PMR radios in particular the industrial Kenwood TK 3201. It seems that the little cobra does not like the sub tones used by some other (in particular the professional type PMR 446) radios and hence keeps their signals shut out. If you are wanting a pair of simple and cheap domestic type PMR 446 radios then the Cobra 525 comes highly recommended. If on the other hand you want compatibility with others then check before you buy as you might be greeted by silence when trying to receive call.
