based on a true story, this film tells the story of a basketball coach challenging the 'educators' in a school who have no/low expectations of their young people. easy to navugate scenes with extras. well worth a watch

'Coach Carter' is based on a true story of Coach Ken Carter, a controversial high school basketball coach played by Samuel L. Jackson. Coach Carter took the coaching job under his rules. He believed that the players must maintain good grades and become a united team or they would not play. All the team players signed his contract to do just that. The team was undefeated and on it's way to the 1999 State Championship, when Coach Carter received the low grades of his players. Coach Carter received national attention when he locked the gym and benched the whole team for poor grades. Coach Carter received some praise and much more criticism for his decision.

A future classic. Feel good movie with a few twists and turns on the way, I bought it bacause my husband is obsessed with it lol

This film got recommended to me and I whole heartedly agree with the recommendation.

Samuel Jackson's acting is superb but to me the highlight of this film, is the plight and courage of the young boys.

That Ken Carter (Samuel Jackson's character) can take these boys and help turn them into something far greater than they ever hoped for themselves really strikes a chord with me.

A good film that leaves you with a distinctly warm feeling through a number of poignant and emotional scenes. Lead by the superb Samuel L Jackson, a young collection of rebelious basketballers are turned into near-title winning team in a true story inspired by coach Ken Carter.

what a great film,samuel l jackson a true legend portraying the legend ken carter the basketball coach from the states,for me as a football coach working with troubled young people i can relate to everything he does,negotianal skills are much needed to help these young people not only become better sports players but also better people in their lives

I Liked It it was a good film, bit boring but the people in it were hot, it went on for a little while but other than that great stuff! I wouldnt reccomend it! Hott Diggety! x

ive seen it a few times and decided it was time to buy the dvd now i have it it is always at the top of my collection as i watch it often.

really good line up, good screenplay and realism, attention to detail is spot on, recommended any day of week :D

A Bit predictable, but never-the-less a good story about a basketball Squad that become a team and make somthing of there lifes, thanks to Coach Carter's contract!......Worth a look.

Good inner city flick about a basketball team in high school. My teenage son is addicted to this movie. Very good film. What else can I say. Why6 do I have to write 100 characters? I hope this is enough.

I absolutely adore this film! Samuel L Jackson is fantastic, I would definately do 500 push ups if he told me to - not one to be messed with!

It is Gangster's Paradise meets Mighty Ducks! It is funny, sad and dramatic! Am so pleased with my purchase, will watch it over and over again!

Truely heart warming!

The acting of Samuel L. Jackson is the strongest part of this movie. If you've ever had a tough-as-nails coach who doesn't take attitude and loves watching players run and do pushups, you'll relate to Coach Carter. Jackson plays the role of the no-nonsense but caring role model perfectly. The rest of the cast, especially Rick Gonzalez, who plays the team's point guard, Timo Cruz, are also strong. Look out for singer Ashanti as well, who has a small part as the girlfriend of one of the team's star players.

A great true life story of inner city kids that love the game of basketball. Samuel L Jackson at his very best, in your face coaching at its very best. A true reflection on how life is in the ghetto abd using a simple game to get their ticket out into College/University.

I am a fan of Samuel L Jackson and this is a very typical film with a sensible under message. I purchased because I wanted it in my collection - why else???

this film is quality, 2 ne1 hu hasnt seen it i wud definetly recommend it no matter type of film u r into, with bein 17 and caught between girls trouble n sport it has really helped motivate me 2 do well at college

I love this film, aside Shawshank it's easily one of the best out the right now. And that could be said for a long time to come yet!
The way it shows the subculture of young americans
How it shows some pretty controversial views on what is more important - Education or Basketball. And i think Coach Carters methods to balance both couldnt have been made better in any way. An incredible actor filling a challenging role in a quite an emotional film.
Would recommend it to anyone at all nomatter what preffered genre.
I myself am a 17 year old white 'greebo' college student not particularly interested in what goes on in America although this film really caught my attention.

Basically a strong storyline with a good result and i wouldn't pick any differnt actors.
