Clifford T. Ward - Home Thoughts From Abroad (CD 1992)

Absolutely brilliant album - clifford t ward is a genius, or was RIP. The well knwon titles i.e. Gaye, Werewithal amd the fantastic Home Thoughts From Abroad are brilliant but are well backed up by a very strong album - I particularly like Nightingale and Give me one More Chance. Not a duff song amongst them and some great lines like "would you like to have a drink or two with big fat Joan, she knows what its all about at 20 stones" and "So tired of working in a factory she joined the Open University" - best lyrics I've heard since one of my favourite albums of all Jilted John. Not for heavy rockers or pop idols but if you like great melodies and even finer lyrics this is for you.

If you are a Clifford T Ward fan this is a must album for your collection. From the opening track 'Gaye' it will stimulate memories you thought were long gone. It will take you back to your youth or anywhere that you have heard these tracks played. Simply Clifford T Ward at his best.

A real nostalgia trip - takes me right back to the vinyl version I had in the 70's. A fine combination of interesting lyrics, with orchestral accompaniment to some tracks. Generally a very pleasant and calming way to spend an hour, with an amount of subtle humour in the words. 30 years after the first hearing, the tracks are still as relevant today. No good at all for anyone whose preference is for high volume, electric guitars and shrieking.
