  CdeB Magic Again
Review created: 09/07/08

Although I was not exactly quick out of the traps in getting hold of a copy of CdeB's latest offering, I have bought each and every album he has produced since 1974. It was very much well waiting for though. An inspiration for life! What more can I say. Well done Chris!

Excellent CD as always for C de B

Chris de Burgh has always made great music with the lyrics being equally as important. In this case a precis of the story behind the lyrics has been included and makes the whole experience of the music and words deeper and more understandable. Keep on writing Chris.

This is an album for all those Chris De Burgh fans who enjoy such songs as Spanish Train, Lonely Sky, The Tower, The Ferryman and many others too numerous to mention. With its multi-cultural flavour and featured guests such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Russian Choir, the Mahotella Queens, Hani Hussein and Krystina Myles it is a veritable feast of music styles and takes the listener on a wonderfully memorable musical world tour.

The limited edition CD set comes comes with a booklet of stories, around which each song is based and which gives an inspiring insight into each song.

Six of the songs were recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the famous Abbey Road recording studio - made legendary by the Beatles.

On this cd you will find the following songs:

1. Storyman Theme (orchestral/London Philharmonic Orchestra)
2. One World (was the first single released from this album)
3. Leningrad (with the London Russian Choir)
4. My Father's Eyes (first version)
5. Grace of a Dancer
6. Spirit (supported by African trio The Mahotella Queens)
7. Shadow of the Mountain
8. Raging Storm (a duet with Krystina Myles - winner of the BBC Busker of the Year competition)
9. Mirror of the Soul (supported by the Chamber Choir of Dublin Marlborough College)
10. Sweetest Kiss of All
11. Storyman (which lists lyrics from 30 of Chris's previous songs)
12. My Father's Eyes (second version, with Egyptian vocalist Hani Hussein)

This was one Christmas present that has been regularly featured on car journeys, my daughters' ipods and mp3s and still has the same addictive appeal as when we first heard it. Try to resist singing along to Mirror of the Soul or Storyman after a couple of plays, especially when you're driving! Very Highly recommended for all Chris De Burgh fans - definitely a must have in any self respecting cd collection!
