The Chmaeleons - they should have been huge....

I bought this album on its release in 1983 on vinyl, and then again a few years later on CD, and now the 25th anniversary edition. I've heard some comments that the remastered sound takes something away from the original, but I need to sit down and play both before making any such comment myself. Apart from what has to be a classic album of great songs that still stand the test of time, it has a bonus CD with an unreleased version of the debut single 'In Shreds' which rates as just about my all time favourite single by any band anywhere. There is also a bunch of live tracks from a show in Berlin, which on first listen don't appear to be mixed that well, but I'l reserve judgement again until I sit down and listen properly.
Anyone who is curious about The Chameleons should check this out, and also their following albums, 'what does anything mean, basically?' (1985) and 'Strange Times' (1986), including the more recent 'why call it anything', the 2001 release resulting from the band reforming. Interestingly, since the band split in 1987, there have been many more posthumous albums released, containing live recordings, sessions and alternative versions - all very interesting, but for me it's the first two albums that stand out as brilliant recordings by a band that influenced many other bands and should have been filling stadiums around the globe themselves.
