The Cat Returns (DVD)

The Cat Returns is a beautiful Studio Ghibli production from the amazing mind of Hiyao Miyazaki. I love Anime, and Howl's Moving Castle & Spirited Away took me into the world of Ghibli. I was so excited when it arrived as an early birthday present from a family member. It wasn't what I expected, it was more than I expected.

The film was amazing. It has a usual Miyazaki structure. A girl beginning in a "normal" word, but gets dragged into a world of mystery, full of creatures with human characteristics. The story, each and every time, is complex, which is all the more fun. The structure works every time.

The main character is someone that many children can relate to, which makes you feel like you know her. She is stuck in school, not popular, she only has one "good" friend, and yet she still manages to get stuck in something so special that you will never forget it.

A story that I will definately recommend.

This is another fantastic story with superb animations from Studio Ghibli. I was gripped by the storyline from the start and just love the imagination that has gone into it.

Great film, my daughter loves anything to do with Japanese anime, so it was well worth the money I spent.

Another brilliant animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. This film is about a girl whos life is turned upside down when she saves a cat from getting hit by a truck, she saves the cat to be ashtonished that its stood on its back legs brushing itself down and then speaks to her saying that he was very grateful for rescuing him, he promises to repay the debt before rushing off and this starts a series of bizarre events for Haru and the kingdom of cats! this is a great film for all ages to enjoy! Its great animation and the characters are really great, all the cats talk and its almost like a secret world is around them! Well worth watching!

Another stunning miyazaki. The whole family were fully engrossed,these films always enable the watcher to drift into the realm of magic and fantasy. They make you feel relaxed and treated ,excellent stress management .

Beautifully animated film about 17 year old Haru, a day-dreaming Japanese schoolgirl who rescues a cat from traffic one day and gets swept up into the world of the Cat Kingdom. The King has decided she will marry his son, Prince Lune, and has her kidnapped and brought to his palace. She has allies amongst the cats though, who help her when she starts to sprout whiskers and a tail!

Being a cat lover and Studio Ghibli fan I was entranced by this, but I'd recommend it to anyone of any age who hasn't forgotten their castles in the sky.
