Album Notes
Except for the newly recorded opening song, CONTACT is a compilation of pre-recorded tracks used in the original Broadway show written by Susan Stroman and John Weidman.Principal Cast includes: Boyd Gaines, Jason Antoon, Deborah Yates, Pascale Faye, Tome Cousin, Nina Goldman, Stacey Todd, Sean Martin Hingston, Robert Wersinger, Mayumi Miguel, Shannon Hammons, Stephanie Michels.Includes liner notes by Thomas Cott.CONTACT is composed of three separate stories about people trying to connect with one another, told through dance, dialogue, and music. The first story, "Swinging," features "My Heart Stood Still," performed by Stephane Grappelli. Rodgers and Hart's gem is interpreted magnificently by the jazz violinist. Though the second story, "Did You Move" is set in 1954, the characters dance to 19th century classical music by Grieg, Tchaikovsky, and Bizet, performed by the New York Philharmonic, with Leonard Bernstein conducting. The third and final story is "Contact," which features the CD's standout track, "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You," sung by Boyd Gaines in a swinging new arrangement written specifically for this album. The remainder of the album consists of some of the greatest pop songs ever recorded, including Dion's "Runaround Sue" and the Beach Boys' "Do You Wanna Dance" and concludes 247828
