Canon PowerShot SD780 IS / IXUS 100 IS Digital Camera

If you're looking for a very high quality, compact and simple to use camera that even shoots film in HD then look no further.
I would imagine that anyone with big hands would possibly struggle with this and the menu buttons are quite crammed. However the upside of this is you get a very small camera that fits inside your palm.
Picture quality is superb in all situations. Set it to auto mode and let it do all the work for you. HD filming is excellent but not so good indoors with low light.
One really great feature is the rechargeable battery. I got two days full use out of mine on a recent holiday. I can't fault it. Another great thing is that it fully charges in just over 1 hour.
Styling is understated, particularly in the black version that I have. It doesn't look flash, just very well made. Having said that, if you opt for the gold or red one you'll get something a bit more 'blingy'!
Lastly, this thing is very fast. Pictures appear almost immediately after capture. No waiting around with this one.
Buy one. You won't regret it.

Awesome build quality. Sturdy and easily managed, buttons not fiddley but just right. Picture quality excellent for this canera type. Easy to use as a PHD (press here dummy) camera. No elements of real control unless you manually set ISO but highly recommended.

The camera has some impressive features it is a 12mp camera my previous camera was also a Canon 4mp and I was happy with it but this model is far superior it is smaller and has a feel of quality about it, some excellent features and I saved a hundred pounds on its high street price by buying it on e-bay. The photo's are sharp and the camera is simple to use. the software with it is quite basic but it's all I need I am a point and shoot photographer but If you are into the additional features there are loads of them in this model

love the quality of picture it provides and all the canon functions that we all knew about it. if only the vcd could flip around like my old one, would be perfect! anyway, still love it.

Great little camera, so portable, such good photos & videos. Still have to read the manual, but so far so good.

Really like the size of the camera, fits well into any pocket, really compact, there is nothing really to dislike about the camera apart from there is a small pause in between taking pictures which can be a little frustrating, The package that the Ebayer was excellent, camera for a good price and comes with 8 extras which is really usefel, I would buy from this ebayer again 100%

I have a Canon DSLR which I take with me when I am in 'photographer mode'- This usually involves a conscious decision though - since it's not much use pretending you don't have a camera with you with it swinging around your neck. I also have a canon G9 which is also an excellent camera I wouldn't be without it, the G9 is less obtrusive and the one I tend to take out on days out ( just in case ) or holidays, but the G9 is still quite bulky. Both these cameras seem to announce 'I'm here to take photographs' which is not always appropriate of course

I needed a camera that I could slip in a pocket anytime. This ixus 100is camera fits the bill. it is tiny but performs well, I tried a lumix dmc-fx500 from panasonic , it is a lovely camera and it has a lot more 'bells and whistles' than the ixus, but I found its auto mode to be too sluggish for me- the whole point of carrying a point and shoot as far as I am concerned is to catch those spontaneous moments - I found that quite often the scene had moved on by the time the Lumix got around to taking the picture. That isn't the case with this ixus, what it does it does well, response times seem excellent, colors are sharp as are the photo's I've taken so far. The flash although tiny seems to do the job well and image stabilisation in conjunction with the hi ISO settings mean really decent shots can be taken in poorish light with quite good results. The camera itself is well made and robust ( as has been mentioned by others - it does have that 'wow' factor ).

also it takes high definition video - the results of which quite frankly are astounding from something this tiny - its as if the videos were taken using a dedicated camcorder - downside is you cant zoom while recording like some others - but for the odd 'video snapshot' it is perfect
