A Proven previously enjoyed camera A+

A camera chosen to finally transition my wife from a film camera to digital. A solid feeling, intuitive camera.
There are some downsides:
The natural position of the left hand tends to block the flash if one is not careful.
After 7 years and thousands of pictures the rechargeable batteries tend not to last as long.
The image size and clarity will not be as good as a 10MP DSLR.
On the plus side:
After nearly 7 years of regular use it still functions well and feels well put together.
The CF cards from my new Canon DSLR work perfectly.
A reasonably quick time from 'on' to taking pictures.
It can do basic movies !
Why did I purchase this camera? I wanted a camera that my wife and children could use/play with/learn on, I wanted a camera that was made in Japan from a time when that signified quality, I couldn't justify purchasing a Leica for my children to learn on.
Am I pleased with the purchase? Yes
Could it have been better? Yes (It could have been new, Higher resolution and free).
Do I see a use for it beyond it's original purpose? Yes, It would make an excellent door stop, an anchor for a small boat, or a civil disobedience tool (it's about the size and weight of a small brick :-)
An A+ unit that doesn't feel like a free gift from a modern Chinese gift bag. Simple enough for my children to use, but with features and controls to allow me to take creative pictures.
