Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera

this camera has done everything i wanted it for and was well worth the money i paid for it and would recommend this camera to anyone from the amateur to the pro

I bought this camera for my brother. He sent me many pictures maid wiht it. My comment is, just a perfect. Very nice colors, low noise, the brightnes is good, larg screen, that`s it. My brother is camera specialist and hi wanted exactly this model. He`s satisfyed from it. My advice to everyone, buy it.

The best compact digital camera I've have used so far!

I'm not pro, so this review shouldn't be too technical.

I originally bought the camera because of the vari-angle screen. As it's really handy to take pics from various angles. Surprisingly, Canon & Lumix are the only 2 manufacturers so far that I have seen producing this (although I have seen others with some not so cleaver "twist & turn" screens). Anyway, it has delivered far more than I had hoped for.

Weight: If you're looking for a light-weight camera, then it won't be for you with it's 4xAA batteries (can guess that you won't fit it in front pocket jeans!). I use mine with 2700mAh batts & I'm nicely surprised at how long it takes to drain them. Wow! Just as a reference, with the batts above, it record in movie mode for 4hrs +.

Camera menus: the way to access the settings are really well done, everything can be accessed with just a few button clicks. If you don't want to fiddle with all the settings just put it on "Auto" & voila!

The pictures taken with it are just great!

Accessories: If you plan using accessories for it like filters, word of caution!! if you use 3rd party brands. Make sure the converter (kind of extension to screw on the filters) is long enough. Just as I found out by extending the lens which pushed the filter, luckily in my case I hadn't locked the converter yet to the body of the camera, so the lens push the filter & converter which it was screwed onto.

The only 2 minus that I would consider to be a bit of a let down are:

1. the after sales or support, whichever you want to call it, is dissapointing, but that's seems the same with most electronics manufacturers. So long as you don't need to deal with them, you should be fine.

2. It's a shame that the firmware isn't made available for this model as it's not an SLR. This can be useful, for ex, if the software of the camera (not what comes on the disc) because corrupt, then one can just reset the camera by flashing it. Anyway, won't go to technical here.

I mention the 2 points above because I've had to send mine to Canon as there was few niggles with it (on the software side). They resend it back saying there was nothing wrong with it & giving some basics advice on the use of the camera! (Doh, after a year having it, I certainly don't think I suddenly forgot how to use it). My assumption is that they re-flashed the ROM before sending it back. Something I could have done myself if the firmware was made available on their website!

If you plan going from a small compact to a SLR model, but think it's a big jump, then this model is really "in between" to go for.
It's really a great value for money camera!!

Pros: Good build, vari-angle, battery life, excellent value/quality.
Cons: Cheap strap, a slightly bulky, Canon branded accessories can be expensive.

I like the features tha Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera has compared to other cameras I have used and I like canon as they are robust, reliable and generally a leader in the digital market. All the features are easy to use.

Brilliant fully featured carry-anywhere camera. A decent alternative to lugging my SLR kit, when on holiday.

i have one all ready and wanted another it's brill it work well easy to use and the pictures are just great and if you use the 2700 ma rechargable battery's they last ages you can take many picturs or movies with it 10 out of 10 well worth the money 11 years with a camera club using the eos 10 and eos 100 this is just as good if not better

im in no way an expert on cameras but the CANON POWERSHOT A630 DUGITAL CAMERA was one one the best choices ive made when buying a camera. it is so easy to use and gives great images everytime. i bought it because it was reccomended by some one who had bought one from these sellers....thank you for the reccomondation! so far there is nothing i dislike about it!

T remarkable easy to use camera giving the finest quality picture with incredible Zoom definition. Easy to handle typical Canon expertise i real do enjoy using it daily during my monitoring job and inthe sre time capturing my family especially the grang children in natural and dramatic poses.

I do commend this to the photographers of all abilities.

i was looking for a didgital camera and after searching the net i came across this site and the prices were excellent. having received the camera its better than i expected

I have been using a Canon A550 for a few years now and it has been a brilliant camera with great results so I decided to step up to this A630.
So far , the only draw back is it's size and weight . The A550 is very light and pocket size. This is a bit bigger and a fair bit heavier.
On the plus side. I like to (occassionally) blow up a photograph to near poster size and the extra pixels of the 630 do give a much sharper result.
Like all of the powershot cameras , this is dead easy to use and a very reliable camera.

Although now an older model this is still one of the best compacts around in my opinion. Ease of use and quality is superb. The flip round screen is increadbly usefull and I bought this model to replace the same model that I had stolen. I would buy the same camera again should I ever need to.
The only dissapointment with this camera and many compacts it has to be said is the shutter lag. Other than that this unit is A1.

As soon as the camera has come into the hands to the buyer - the seller has ceased to answer letters, motivating it is the rules to which referred earlier. That that the sent camera has not been completed completely as it was promised in the offer, the seller even the nobility does not want, and to correct the mistake especially. And the camera very good, is a pity that such vile people trade in her.

This is a very good piece of kit, it produces high quality photos just as good as a professional camera. Very easy to use, the flip around screen is very usefull. I only paid £107 for this which included a 2mb memory card, mini tripod, leather case and a cleaning kit.. excellent value for money.

All in all a very good all round camera, highly recommended!

let down by this canon outlet.Fairy tales told in there faq item eg camera was suposed to be checked refurbished,arrived us. Contacted canon uk they told me the camera had a major fault ccd was faulty and should not have been sent out.
many phone calls and email customer serv in outlet waist off time.took a month for refund will not deal with them again.
