Canon PowerShot A400 Digital Camera

WHAT A GREAT LITTLE DIGITAL CAMERA. Added bonus of video recording built in. Easy to set up and use and a tough little cookie for putting in the handbag! Memory card is affordable and widely available. Would strongly advise investing in rechargeable batteries.HAd mine 3 years now and still love it.

Bought one for use at work and I must say for it's small price tag (I think is was sub £80.00 at the time of purchasing) the quality of the photo's it takes is quite breathtaking. As other members have written, although this is by today's standards quite low in the MegaPixel range, you wouldn't realise it looking at the quality photo's it takes.

I was particularly impressed by extreme close up shots. This is due to a great Macro mode. I've taken shots from 1" away without a flash and the pictures are always crystal clear.

The other good point to note is the quality of the screen. Again, although quite small by today's standards, the clarity, colour depth and level of detail are all outstanding.

If you are looking for a straight forward point-and-shoot digital camera, you will not go wrong with a Canon PowerShot A400.

Despite its resolution of 3.2mp now being considered too low, I can highly recommend the Canon A400 for the following reasons: it feels nice and robust without being heavy, the 3.2mp are ideal for snaps and won't take up precious memory on your computer, the image quality is exceptional...nice and sharp, and my favourite feature is the viewfinder (for anyone used to SLR and TTL it's a real boon). Bad points? Well, all I can fault it on is the silly, flimsy rubber cover for the USB connection but it'll still be there if you're carefull!

This is my 'spare' A400, such a good and easy camera thought I'd have two incase the inevitable happens to my first (which I've had for over four years).
Purchased a new Samsung 6 months ago but not as easy to use and quality of photos is about equal.

I bought it because I lost my original in Nice Airport and it is so easy to use and download to my computer, also takes excellent photos.

i needed a new one as water had got into my other one ,and i liked the overal perfomance of the powershot a400,a good wee camera in my eyes

Fabulous little camera, bought for use in a school in a busy department. Excellent value...for £17 + P&P..I have a solid dependable machine. Complete with boxed instructions all the bits included. Batteries last a reasonable amount of time, nice viewing window at back, easy to use, easy to download. The flap for access to sd card and batteries has to be mastered but a lovely buy!
