A Very Usable Lens
) The lens works very well focusing quickly and with a very good closest focus distance. I wanted the Image Stabilising feature because I have a surveying project to do which requires taking pictures without flash indoors in unpredictable lighting. I have been gettting very good results.
Having said all that I have also found the lens very useful in my general photography too.

Canon IS basic lens
) I believe it will make it easier in difficult light conditions with the IS incorporated, therfore I think I shall get more satisfaction from a reasonable speed lens, quality could have been better but will be ok.

) I bought the 18-55 IS lens not expecting much. After using Canon L series and Sigma EX lenses it feels like a baby toy, which is really is in comparion. However I just wanted something for everyday use that I wasn't bothered about getting a little dirty. This lens is for that purpose with me, my other glass is all f/2.8 or faster and therefore heavier, this is great for a cheap walkaround lens. Build quality is OK, the IS is pretty good and it has fairly good macro capabilities. Not too shabby for the £75 it cost me!
