EFs 18-55 USM Lens(modification to fit 10D camera)

Hi.I own a canon eos 10D camera,with 28-80 and 70-210 lens.and to complete the
range I needed a wide angle lens. Most canon Ef lens available are too expensive
But I hve read that it is possible to convert a EFs 18-55 to fit the 10D.Hence the purchas of a Canon EF s 18-55mm f3.5-4.5 USM lens. The back of the lens protrudes beyond the mounting ring and prevents mounting the lens in anything other tham the 300D and the 20D camers. As the lens is plastic, and the lens mount is removable.I decided to have a go at removing the extension,4 phillips screws and two very small.removing the mounting ring enabled me to ascess the situation, and it seemed a fairly simple operation to remove the extension, using a Deram abrasive wheel.making sure to cut right back to to the contact line.then cleaning the surface, and removing all rough edges.I reassembled the lens, then came the testing point. To try the lens in the Camera.IT WORKED!!.on all settings, taking some very good photographs. So I now have a complete range of lens's from 18mm to 210.all USM,to cover everything I need to take.I would be pleased to help anybody who wishes to go allong the same path.having now purched a small lathe, making the conversion easyer and more professional.WARNING THIS CONVERSION IS ONLY SUITABLE FOR THE 10D CAMERA.AND not SUITABLE FOR FULL FRAME 35mm ,AND OTHER DIGITAL CAMERS.TO DO SO WILL!!.DAMAGE THE CAMERA THE MIRROR OR LENS.
